QUITMAN, Georgia — A Georgia mother was tragically killed in a brutal attack by a pack of 13 dogs, leading her family to launch a GoFundMe campaign to help cope with the aftermath.


The incident occurred on Thursday, May 9, around 4:45 p. m., when deputies from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a dog attack in Quitman, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies encountered a number of aggressive dogs and discovered that several minors had been taken to the hospital.


Courtney Williams, a 35-year-old mother, was found dead in a nearby yard, presumably mauled to death by the dogs. Her son, Kayden, also suffered severe injuries in the attack.


In the wake of this tragedy, Williams’ husband, Joshua Cox, initiated a GoFundMe campaign, expressing his heartache and the challenges that lie ahead for the family. Cox revealed that Kayden had heroically pushed his sister out of harm’s way but was unable to escape the aggression of the dogs. As a result, Kayden was hospitalized due to his injuries.


Crystal Cox, the children’s aunt, shared on Facebook that a courageous Good Samaritan, who was flagged down by Kayden’s brother, Nathan, bravely fought off the dogs and transported the injured children to the hospital.


The good news is that Kayden has been discharged from the hospital, while the other children are physically unharmed but understandably shaken up by the traumatic incident.

Following the attack, the Thomasville Humane Society has taken custody of 11 of the dogs responsible, as reported by WALB. However, it remains unclear whether the dogs had the same owner or if the owner will face criminal charges.
