Does anyone here know how to fit in? Any helpful hints? ?

I was in a strange situation: I played varsity baseball in high school (which was the only thing I enjoyed in HS) and was entitled to a letterman's jacket, but I wasn't a "jock", I was actually a math nerd.

On the flip side, the math and science nerds didn't accept me because they felt I was a "jock."

Much like @bubblespopcorn I blazed my own trail.

I could fit in almost everywhere and anywhere... with two simple rules

I was myself and genuine, and... I accepted others just as they were

and that solved pretty much everything for me, I didn't have to "fit" in, I could just be myself

No one has to "fit in." The trick is to find people who enjoy you and you enjoy them.

Fitting in means you have to change yourself. IT's not possible to do so. You are yourself from the get go. The only thing that changes is your wealth of knowledge and experience. Personalities are what they are.

Awwww. Stop worrying about it. You are perfect as you are. Who cares if you “fit in”? The only groups that require you to “fit in” are mean girls and jocks. You want no part of that. Find people with common interests as yourself. I have some mom friends I adore! I have a book club. You got this!

To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic favorite of mine. I recently read A Gentleman In Moscow and enjoyed it. I rather enjoyed the book To Engineer is Human. It gets hot and cold reviews but I think you would like it.

Just start talking with people. If you're at a party, walk around strike up a conversation with each person there. Very rarely do I walk around town without talking to someone new. I've been told I should get into politics. I just say "HELL NO".

If I talk, I say the wrong thing. If I stay quiet, I'm seen as a prudish snob. I do best when I just smile and nod.

I never fit in. Even in high school I blended into a variety of groups and floated around. Why blend in when you were born to stand out?
