Why do I look fucking ugly in group photos?

I resemble my father so much that it makes me sick w disgust. I look like someone who tries hard, is social, half weird half dork, and overall the reverse of Dorian Gray.

It's so off putting. I literally bolted out of college after the traditional dress day photos got taken, cuz one look at me and I wanted a can for vomiting reasons.

My colleagues look quite good, it's just me that turns ugly every time other people join the picture.

Hence I find comfort in selfies.

But seriously tho.

True beauty on you you really are and where your going is on the in side . When we die if you think your beautiful o the out side that beauty dies with your body the beauty on the inside is gathered up with everything you have said and done in your life. Along with your soul and spirit, by your inter light your energy takes it to where? God has many houses just be your light. the light . if you mourn your out side beauty you will stay with it. Most people are critical of themselves in photos with others, because you are comparing yourself to those around you.
You have an idea of what you should look like based on what others look like, and feel that they look better than you when in reality they just look different from you.
You are critical of yourself but not others because you dont have to be critical of them, they are not you.
You will always see things in yourself that others don't.

I guess it depends on if your ‘photogenic’ or not. Some peoples faces are perfectly symmetrical and they tend to look better in photos. I have the same problem, most of the time I love the way I look in the mirror, but when I see a photo of myself I’m like 🤮 so yeah I’m hoping the mirror is telling the truth lol.

My forst response is to question whether your self-perception is valid and it is impossible to answer that question without seeing a photo of you.

Possibly just your lack of comfort, tense up more, try harder, especially with a familiarly shitty track record in the past. Pretty possible that you have done thousands of selfies, gotten used to the lens distortion, the angles, feel more relaxed and pick the best one out of the hundreds of frogs.

I've heard of something called being photogenic. But since you are comfortable taking selfies, maybe it is something happening during the moment the pic is being taken
