Sharing a bathroom w/ nasty roommate. What should I do?

I live in a house with 2 guys. I’ve been living here for about six months. One of the guys is my landlord and he is super awesome. The other is a 45 year old man and we share a bathroom. He doesn’t clean the bathroom, uses up all the toilet paper, and leaves sh*t stains on the seat. He NEVER cleans it up. This is probably the 10th time he has done it. I have talked to my landlord about it and he said he has talked to him. Fast forward a couple weeks later, he has it done it TWICE this week. I left a post it note that read, “Please clean up your mess on the toilet, thanks.” Then he wrote on the back, “I do it every time” and then slammed his door like a child. Obviously if he did it every time, then there would be no stains on the seat. Both the landlord and I have talked to him about it and he acts like a child and pouts because we are on his case about it. He doesn’t have very good social skills either, so he takes everything personal…. I am not in the position to afford my own place or move. I am getting more and more fed up about it. My landlord has lowered my rent because I am ALWAYS cleaning the bathroom. I don’t mind cleaning it, but I won’t be cleaning his poop stains anymore. What do I do?

I've dealt with situations like this. I had a female "roommate" who was really just a homeless squatter friend of our actual roommate and this fat idiot kept leaving my bathroom a mess, even though our apartment has two bathrooms and mine's was private, meaning no one else was supposed to use it be me. I almost physically threw her out of the apartment. Some people just don't respect it when you're nice to them.

I say get his ass evicted. You shouldn't have to deal with a 45 year old manchild who can't wipe his own f*cking ass. What kind of situation is that? That IS nasty!

Alternatively, you can just start putting paper toilet seat covers on the seat every time, so at least it'll save you time cleaning up after an old fart. If you really want to get tough with him, buy a new lock on the door and start locking it. If he wants to use it, he'll have to ask you permission.

Right? I’m so annoyed with it and I wish I had the funds to move out, but I don’t. It’s so gross 🤢 I’m currently living paycheck to paycheck right now, looking for another job but nothing has sparked my interest just yet!

Oh yeah! Like they do in public restrooms. That’s a good idea! I wish I could change the lock, but I do not own the home, so therefore, I can’t do that unfortunately. That is a good idea though!

Room mates and shared walls with neighbors are very shitty unless its super luxury and sharing a house with separate rooms you will always run into your fair share of weirdos same with apartments but you get your own space but you still have to deal with the nuisance inconsiderate people sharing the walls with you, people who expect you to baby sit there mental illness and accept it.

What i would suggest is moving out once you get the chance and maybe look for a room mate situation with female college students or see if you can get a master bedroom with your own bathroom. Cause your landlord doesn't seem to think it's an issue when it is cause of things like hepatitis and other stomach or gut bacteria you just don't want to contract. You may just have keep pouring bleach on it but i would not fully clean it until you leave

Tell your landlord to kick him out, that's unacceptable. If he doesn't want to do that, you should probably look for another place to live.

Tell him that you're fed up, that his warnings don't work and you can't live like that. He clearly values you, so ask that he respects your boundaries and tolerance by taking actual action.

I’ve been in this situation. The solution was to just clean up after everyone until I found another place to live. I find that you can’t fix most people.
