Which is better, National Guard or Army Reserves?

It depends on what is important to you. As one commenter stated, there’s more potential to make rank in the Reserves than in the Guard. Being able to support my own communities in time of need was more important to me, which is why I chose the Guard.

I came off active duty and went the national guard and that promotion was slow. When my commitment was up I went to the Army Reserves. Promotion fast and you had better benefits. You have you schooling that is needed for leadership training. I retired 12 years ago with more points with the Army Reserves
