My papa had 3 horses I'd ride in the summer time growing up, it was a fun experience. What about yourselves?

I rode a horse when transitioning out of the military. Long story warning so skip to last portion for the real answer to this question.

Due to alcohol issues combined with my anger towards a superior, I was put in a 4-week program called "Co-occuring". It was an experimental transitioning treatment to help servicemembers cope with issues before transitioning out. To qualify you had to have a substance abuse issue combined with a mental condition related to depression, uncontrolled anger or suicidal tendencies. It was meant for severe cases.

This program was part traditional therapy and part recreational activities. One of the activities we did was a day of horseback riding. When we were told to pick a horse, a male horse approached me. Not sure the breed but he was pure black except for white around his hoofs and he was bigger than most horses. He kinda picked me. The stable owners said he was aggressive to people he did not know, but he was very loving to me and the only trouble I had from him was when we had to leave. He did not want me to leave. He kept approaching and licking me and was good until I approached the fence. Then he started throwing a fit lol My first time ever riding a horse was for therapy and it was the horse deemed "unsafe" for a beginner.

A few times, not since I was a kid though. I rode a horse once, a pony, a camel, and an elephant. Most of these rides occurred at circuses or fairs. The horse was at some kind of horse farm.
