Do guns (in general) fascinate you or scare you?

Guns play an extremely important role in a humans life, or if they don't they should. People shouldn't be scared of guns, more than they should fear being caught in a situation where a gun is necessary but they do not have one. It's okay too be fascinated by gun's, but one should be more fascinated by the comfort of being a confident, safe, & skillful gun owner whom holds the priceless means & ability too protect your family & community if ever there happens too be an event that requires the use of your firearm & the training you've ensured you've maintained with focus using the lives & sustaining of the lives of your family too be the main focus & inspiration behind you becoming a responsible gun owner who made a habit out of going to the shooting range every other weekend too become as acquainted with your firearm as possible including the handling of it & of course the aiming of it & maintenance of it so that it's always working as it should. Your fascination should be to be a much better shot than any potential would be criminal whom decides to aimlessly put your family in danger, you should be fascinated with not being a victim, & making sure that any one who attempt's to make you & your family victims not only fails, but if they happen to survive that they think long & hard the next time the decide to potentially victimize someone else, since they fear that perhaps those people are packing &:are as skilled as you are causing them to not even act on their criminal activity in the first place.

Gun's are the only thing that puts all humans on an even paying field. The group of people who should maintain the highest gun ownership per Capita are women. If women decided to responsibly & skillfully own firearms I promise that rapes, robberies, murders etc... Of men taking advantage of the biological discrepancies between men & women would be cut so dramatically that it would be negligent from then on out as a similar result to what I mentioned previously, where as if it became a cultural practice of women owning firearm protection & men were aware of this phenomenon there's no doubt in my mind that the types of cowardly men whom are responsible for such crimes would no doubt think before acting on their impulsives with the knowledge that which ever potential victim they choose is likely lugging around a.32 MM in her bra ready to pop a cap the moment some dude thinks he's about to violate her.

An armed society is a polite society, & the only reason guns are demonized with in the mainstream media is due to government propaganda. Gun control is people control, & the government is set on controlling the people as much as possible, & they view firearms, & a citizenry who possess them as a threat too their supreme overlord status, which is just one more reason everyone should consider not only being gun owners, but being responsible gun owners capable of safely & skillfully discharging their firearm if necessary. School shooters would be a thing of the past except for the school shooters who get shot when they get intercepted by a much more skillful teacher who noticed some suspicious activity. POP POP! A gun is a tool. It performs useful functions that other tools don't do as well or at all. A screwdriver makes a lousy hammer, and a hammer makes a lousy screwdriver. The right tool for a given job is important.

But a gun is still just a tool, and is no more dangerous than a saw or a hammer on its own. What matters is the person using it.

I am a former competitive shooter. I own and sometimes carry a gun. The vast majority of the time, I was doing concealed carry, so no one was even aware of it. I was never in a situation where I needed to use it - though I do my best to avoid such situations always.

There are currently 24 states in the US with Constitutional Carry, meaning that if you are legally allowed to own a gun, you are legally allowed to carry it, with no specific permits or requirements. And yet, people are not killing people over parking spaces or for cutting in line for popcorn at the movies. The streets do not run red with blood. Quite the opposite.

You'll find that the places where the streets DO run red with blood (Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles) are the same places that have extremely restrictive gun control, and who also tend to prioritize criminal's rights over victim's rights. It's almost as if they WANT crime, and don't care that it largely comes at the expense of the innocent, who aren't able to legally defend themselves.

I spent a summer on a ranch where guns, including pistols, were part of the vast range of tools involved in the life that goes on there. I got to take part in the cleaning and oiling of some of them and it was not boring to see how they're taken apart and put together. Given the use of the weapons in that scenario, while they were definitely more dangerous to deal with than hammers, axes, and some other tools, they were things that occasionally had appropriate use.
Guns in the city, on the other hand, are always fucking scary as hell, no matter who is carrying them, exactly because they have only one intended purpose, to be used against humans. It's not like I don't understand that that's is sometimes inevitable, but it's hardly a happy thought, from any perspective.

Just a tool, does a hammer scare you? nope it does not. Yet if someone picks it up and charges you, then it does.

Same with any tool, if someone is going to use it against me then it scares me. A cattle prod is extremely scary to me personally.

But it is alright for people to be scared of a inanimate object, that is their choice and I won't judge them.

I feel extremely uncomfortable around them. Waterguns and lasertag guns were the only kind i liked and not even those now. I dont even trust nerfguns and paintball guns. I see guns as a means to kill rather than protect. I can protect myself in other ways that dont involve owning a gun. And i’ve been threatened by a gun more than protected by one. The men in my fam love hunting but i wouldn't dare be around them when the guns come out

Fascinates me. The technology that has been around and the math and craftsmanship that it takes to make a reliable weapon for its intended purpose is really cool. Plus the rigorous testing they go through for inspection and durability before being sent out the door as a product.

Read a book about the design of the M1 Garand and how it came to be. Really cool read from what was proposed and how it got there to be the standard rifle for infantry soldiers during WWII.

They don't scare me unless they are being mishandled or pointed at me.

They don't "fascinate" me. I just like them. They are great tools and fun recreation. I like the craftsmanship. They are designed to function reliably and efficiently. I can appreciate their aesthetics the same way I appreciate anything that is well made.
I respect them the same way I respect motor vehicles, power tools, or anything else that can be dangerous if used carelessly.

They are a tool, just like a drill or power saw. I have just purchased a couple of firearms and will be training to use them next month. I am pretty pissed off that I have to do this to keep my family safe and to protect my property. I do not feel like the police can do the job anymore and it is getting worse.

In my (obligatory) military 'service' I was shown what to do with them;
I found that boring as well.

I don't see a reason to be scared. A bullet can only follow ONE path; and it's shooter must have the skills to make that patch match my own position.
My own skills of NOT being in such a patch give me an optimistic feeling.

I weapons trained as a kid my father was ex-military. You were taught what it was for and that it was not a toy. As a kid I never played with guns or handled them unless it was training day. They do not scare me but they do not fascinate me either.

It’s craftsmanship and art that can literally end the life of bad people.

Unfortunately there are also instances where they are used by bad people to kill good people.

I love weapons. I was around many type of guns growing up. I was taught that they were dangerous and never point them in a direction of a living being. Years later I went into the military and was taught that they can be fun and being safe at the same time.

Guns are a symptom.

Most developed countries have laws against guns because they aren't necessary. The few that do have problems that lead back to owning guns.

(Yes, I'm aware some countries allow guns in the EU, but not nearly on the scale of the USA which this post is clearly referencing.)

One should always fear guns to a point. The mental weight of possibly one day it could be used to kill a living being by accident or in self-defense. But, one should know the in & out of how guns work, the types of guns, and the laws & regulations in place, so one can talk properly about the topic with a fine understanding.

Not afraid of them but I don’t like them. But mostly due to America that I don’t like them. Guns shouldn’t be carried around willy nilly. In my country they are illegal unless you have a hunting license.
