Why do some 360p videos on YouTube have better quality than other 360p videos on YouTube?

Same resolution but quality is different.

Video compression, lighting issues, different cameras, ...

Or worst of all, when a lower resolution video gets upscaled to 360p or in general.

Does it mean the video which youtube shows as 360p isn't actually 360p?

360p is just the number of pixels,

But youtube adds its own compression ontop of it as its uploaded, and depending on the content this works better or worse.

Eg rain effects in videogames are really bad for the youtube compression.

And if the original video is bad, as its filmed in a dark room or with a bad camera, the image quality only gets worse.

And 360p is "quite old" video resolution standard, 10~15 years ago or so, the euipment wasn't too good.

How weird the 4~6 cameras on phones my look like but they do a good job improving photo and video quality, compared to the camera from the old first iphone or galaxy S1...

Worst of all would be if an 240p Video gets upscaled to 360p or when the video gets filmed with digital zoom, thats where a lot of the quality gets lost

Is digital resolotion not only the number of pixels? The resolution is 360p. Is there any other resolotion than number of pixels in digital world?

They were both movies shown at 360p on youtube.

One was much better than the other at 360p in quality.

Its only the number of pixel, or more accurate the number of horizontal lines of pixels, i double checked.

So 360p is usually 640 pixels x 360 pixels.

And within this margin you have many factors, which can influence the quality.

Eg you can make a video with absolute over the top high tech equipment at 360p and a 360p video with the first iphone at minimal light.

The quality of the image will still varry, and than there are post production factors, like how you will export the video out of the video editing software, and so on.
