Yesterday my mouse arrived from Amazon. That guy came at 9:40 pm or something. The official closing time is 9 pm for deliveries in India.
I live in hostel. So, went down, took the package, and turned back again to say thank you to the guy, because 40 minutes above the closing time is a lot. The warden was about to close the gates (10 pm).
When I said thank you to the delivery guy, the warden immediately said that I don't need to say thank you to them. I was really pissed off but kept quiet.

Yes. My mum says it is important to show gratitude. They work hard all day and it isn’t that difficult to say a thank you. Growing up, I was taught to say “thank you” whenever someone helps/offers to help me.

I think that should be a normal thing and don't understand why some people look down on them.

I consider each and every job important. If yhe job was not important, or not needed, then it would not have existed.
Hence, I appreciate the garbage pickers or rag pickers too, because it is them that are keeping the city clean.
Status thing. Maybe because of that. Looking down on people just because of job is a shallow thing to do. I believe.

I fully agree with you. Personally, I don’t think there is an inferior or superior job. Judging people by their job/education or looking down at them because of it is a pretty shitty thing to do. People can be very weird sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have a couple of delivery guys I see all the time.. 1 from Royal Mail and another from Hermes. I give them a decent tip at Christmas as well.

It's more like a habit for me. You really don't need to listen to your warden. A thank you doesn't hurt
