Sure. But only in the sense that it means the person has to try to make people angry to get their genuine attention. Like they want a real spanking and not as a sex thing (well, maybe a little). I suppose "offended" isn't quite the right word but a sort of frustrated sadness that is similar enough.

No not really and depending on who's giving it sometimes I think it's hilarious sometimes I think it's cute it's just a funny gesture that's all even if they say fuck you as they're doing it for some reason all I can do is smile it means nothing to me

Yes, but only because the thumb isn't used. The original term is pluck yew, which as tale told it was archers that were going to get their middle and thumb severed.
