While it is not common, it does occur from time to time. (*)

I am 59.5 and I would definitely not have children. The fact that I have ED and my wife had a hysterectomy and is post-menopausal sealed that fate.

(*) Two famous examples are:

1. Donald Trump. Trump turned 76 years old on 14 JUN 2022. His youngest child is his son Barron Trump was born on 20 MAR 2006. So Donald Trump was 59y 9m old when Barron was born.

2. Tony Randall. Tony Randall was an actor best known as "Felix Unger" on the 1970-1975 ABC TV series "The Odd Couple". Tony Randall was born on 20 FEB 1920. Tony Randall was married from 1938 until his first wife died in 1992, but then, in 1995 at age 75, he married a 25-year-old woman. They had two kids born: 11 APR 1997 and 15 JUN 1998 when Tony was 77 and 78 respectively. He died in 2004 at age 84.

As to the kids, it's hard to say if they are "normal".
I can't speak at all to Tony Randall's kids, but they are now in the mid-20s and I suppose they are fine.
Barron Trump, though... well, he's a Trump and that can't be good... but, that kid is only 16 years old and he is ALREADY at least 6-foot-7-inches tall - considerably taller than his father and mother. When he finishes growing, who knows? I wouldn't be surprised if he is 6-foot-8 or -9. He doesn't need his parents money; he can get an NBA contract if he has any talent. His trash-talking skills should be superior since he would have gotten that from his father.

I sincerely think it’s not so healthy since there’s too much disparity in age between children and parents. The high difference in age can bring the kids to lack some kind of support from parents, that are too old to follow their kids and to grow them in an independent manner.. since people generally at 50-60 years tend to show the first physical and mental decay and start having health problems…
Maybe I got it wrong and probably a sociologist can answer better than me.

I only know one person who became a father at 60. He's too old. Too old to hang out with the dads in their 20s and 30s, too old to keep up with a 10 year old at age 70, too old to be the dad at graduation when he's pushing 80. Lucky for his kid, he's still around at 90. It's difficult for a 75-80 year old to relate to teenagers and their current issues. Times change.

Friend in highschools father was 64-65 when he was born, normal guy. Was weird finding out his oldest step-brother was retired and older than his mother by nearly 10 years though.

Nope. My father had a daughter on his second time around. He was in his 50s. He could not retire and worked until 72 when he died.

Guys can impreg a gal until their dying day if everything is still attached and not diseased with cancer or the ilk. and as long as the gal is pre late life change everything should be fine.

No. It's kind of abnormal. I have my one kid and that's enough. I couldn't imagine doing parenthood all over again at my age.
