Well for a start they live a long time whereas dogs & cats are somewhere 10-20 years long life. Sir Winston Churchill's parrot out lived him despite all the passive cigar smoking the poor parrot had to do.
Secondly many come in bright colors and you have to love that.
Apart from being smart if you get them very young they'll sit on your shoulder as you go walking. If you want attention that is the way to go.
A friend has a tropical parrot that loves showering. It is quite heart warming to see him flapping under the shower making happy parrot noises.
A pet parrot is on my agenda. Just not sure which type but I am leaning to ecletus because f the reasons in the para above. Electus parrots love showers

This guys are cute 😁 maybe I will consider that if I would want to.
I hate seeing a bird in a cage. Something so sad about a creature designed to conquer our skies, being degraded to peer out between the bars.
Maybe consider getting a rescue, instead of going to a breeder? I’m sure you love your animals, otherwise you wouldn’t want a parrot in the first place. So if you do get one please make sure you let your bird stretch his wings often, as I’ve seen so many stuck in one spot all day 💔
I don’t like birds in general. My neighbor has them and they are loud. I hate arriving home and hearing them, I feel like I’ve arrived at a jungle. And parrots, they get this people complex that they start talking and behaving like they are humans 😄. They are snitches too. Just not my pet kind. 😅

Oh yeah, then thangs cute af. But I'd have to see how my ears/brain responds to them. I have hyperacusis so it's painful being around something too loud or high pitched. But maybe I'd just have to look for mute pets 💀
I have never had a pet bird. They always seemed weird to me. But that sounds fun! I mean I always thought it sounded cool to have nice birds and the look of a pirate with a parrot on his shoulder always seemed cool. But I have never thought I would actually get one.
Parrots are crazy. About 24 years ago I was walking around this big corporate pet store (Petco). The was a giant blue and gold macaw sitting out on an open perch. I started moving my hand towards his foot and he held one foot up, which means he wants to be picked up. I picked him up and he just sat there on my hand, so I walked around with him while looking at all the fish tanks. When I was done looking I set him back down on the perch, and the bastard got pissed and tried to bite my hand. His beak was big enough to easily bite the end of a finger off. A great pet to have if you want to spend 30-50 years being scared for your fingers haha
I LOVE all birds. I've had many birds as pets over the years. My absolute favourite bird to have as a pet is the rainbow lorikeet. They're very placid and intelligent birds that make a great companion. And they have their own personalities. One of mine use to snuggle up under my chin and go to sleep when I was laying in bed watching a movie or something.
They are cute and yes. But I do somewhat disagree with pet birds, if you've trained a eagle and have a proper facility/area to give it enough room to fly around and feel free that I have no problem with.
But a bird just in a cage nah. Birds need to fly and be free.
Same reason I disagree with indoor cats.I love all animals. And parrots are highly intellegent and loving. However think it is beyond cruel to cage a animal, let alone one that has the ability to fly.
I love umbrella cockatoo, check out pebble on youtube what a awesome bird they live very long time so if you do plan on them living 15 to 20 years or longer and i think they make great pets
Nope. I had a roommate years ago that had two parrots. The quit one flew into the ceiling fan and was no more. The second would never shut the fuck up and was mean. I don't know when that bird slept because it was making noise 24/7. I wasn't sad when it died.
I used to have an electus parrot. They need so much attention, space to fly and what not.
They are good for those stay at home housewives who take care of the children.A friend has a Cockatoo (really tempting to make a joke lol).
anyhow it’s really gobby and never shuts up.
the other thing is how long they live.
that and I have my neighbours cat, not sure it would get on with feathered fun.Don't mind them. Grew up with a couple as pets. Seem to do better if paired with another. Funnily enough they seem to be very selective of who they like, in my case it was my mom and me that the parrots liked.
I love parrots and have 2. it’s so adorable when they talk 😍
Parrots are very intelligent and interesting birds. I would not get one as a pet though... they deserve to stay in the wild, not cooped up in some cage.

hmm... no
all my life, wherever I lived as many times as I moved to different places, I've always had neighbours with parrots...
so in a way, I've always had them... lol They’re cute little birbs. Maybe I’ll get them, but I do prefer just having birds that coming to my house and hanging about.
Nope. Some breeds live to be like 80. I’m too old for that. I probably could though cuz i have one niece who luvs birds and she’d probably adopt mine when i die.
i love seeing the birds there super cool. I see them outside around our house , in the bird bath and feeder chirping and stuff i don't think i would like it so much in the house in a cage. cause they can't fly or do anything in a cage like outside.
I have already lovely sexy parrot (my girlfriend)
I don't want second one 😀I petted a pirate's parrot as it perched peaceful.
I pondered purchasing a pet parrot and promptly procrastinated.I like parrots but i am strictly against keeping birds as pet. they are made to fly in the sky not to keep as pets in cages.
