Poll- should I buy white or black curtains for my living room?

Since I already have that same print on my rug, I want keep the cursing minimal & one color no prints. I plan replace the middle black curtains with new solid black curtains but for the side, should I get white curtains so the room looks bright airy? Or will it look weird? I dont want all the curtains black as the sofa is black. I’m going for a minimal look. Clean all white and black only. ignore the broken white trash can I will get rid of it soon and get a stainless steel trash can.

Look out for a monochrome pattern. It'll avoid too much black or too much white.

The room isn't to my taste but if I had to improve it via curtains, then that massive expanse of black has to go. Look at your rug for a Grey and White geometric print curtain to make the room more complete.
