What’s a holiday that you hate?

Question

4th of July. I can’t stand the constant fireworks. I can deal with a couple but I live in a city where people do whatever they want so there’s fireworks shooting ALLLLL day long and I hate the sound it gives me anxiety.

I’m also not a huge fan of Thanksgiving for obvious reasons.

I have to plan dinner or find a gift that my boyfriend/girlfriend would probably love. Basically I don't agree with the premise of Valentine's Day, why can't I just treat my future girl and she treats me back any other day of the year or probably all year round why is this day so important to others. You know what be a great Valentine's Day not worrying about it continue on with our lives, the only good thing I definitely agree with Valentine's Day is celebrating with your SO but again you can easily do that any day of the year so basing that off a day alone is really weird.

I don't really "hate" any of them because I got paid to be off on those days when I was working. Holidays are for enjoying the time off work. 😃 They could name a J. D. Rockefeller day and I'd take it.

I celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day on Columbus Day.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are nice. New Years is fun.
I think it's important to celebrate our nation's independence. But if I lived in an area where it sounded like a war zone on the 4th of July and for the preceding weeks, I'd hate it, too. My sister has that problem where she lives. And it freaks animals out.

I don't really hate holidays, but I will say I'm kinda over Christmas. The decorations are pretty, it's just the excitement wears off when you're no longer a kid cause you quickly realize it's the same thing every year. People play same Christmas carols every year, the same Christmas movies ( I am fed up with seeing/hearing about the grinch every Christmas. Good movie when i was a kid but it's obsessively overplayed during Christmas holiday.)

The rush to grab everyone a gift you think they would like became a choir after a while. The novelty just wore off so I really don't like to shop for Christmas anymore.

coz the kids just went back to school, and a week later, they are out again!

and we have the End of Summer party for bbq and the pool just has too many peeps here. My husband has lots of people over and I do ALL the cooking, except for the BBQ.

arghhh.. 20+ people at my house for 6-8 hrs... and afterwards, the drinking and other Stuff that happens when the kids go to bed... I hate fat men with small cocks.

I really hate Christmas. When my kids were little my divorced parents used to make my life a living hell No matter what I did the both of them would get pissed at me. Then we would load up the credit cards and buy a bunch of junk for the kids which they would always complain it wasn't the right thing. My wife would cook a big dinner and the kids would want to hang out with their friends . it would be world War 3 . we would spend over 3 thousand dollars to have a miserable time. One year I wanted to take that money and go on a nice vacation somewhere warm. My wife would not go along with it.

Valentine's Day, because it's either a day of self-loathing single life, or a completely unnecessary day if you're with someone who shouldn't need one specific day to feel special. It's also only very loosely relevant to the two Saint Valentines that both lived in the Roman Empire, and should have more to do with marriage specifically than romantic flings like it does now.

Most federal holidays which are basically only there as arbitrary reasons to grant a day off here and there, namely Columbus Day, Presidents Day, New Years Day, MLK Day, Labor Day, Juneteenth, and Veterans Day. Get rid of all of these and just give federal employees an extra 7 days of vacation/time off a year to use at their leisure within reason. The only holidays celebrating the government in any capacity should be Independence Day and Memorial Day, and Thanksgiving serves as a pre-constitutional cultural celebration. Making election day a federal holiday would be fine too.

I find Mother's Day annoying mainly because I don't have the cookie cutter mother-daughter relationship and sometimes I just don't want to go out of my way for someone who can predominantly in a negative headspace. Our relationship is just "okay". We tolerate each other, but she's difficult to be around for more than 10 minutes. I do have some surrogate mothers so that helps at times.

Christmas. ... When you're poor in the 90s and 2000s, it means absolutely nothing but sh*tty television and everything's closed. And as an adult, it still means nothing when you never had loving family or ever got married or had kids, to begin with. Most jobs I had, I worked on Christmas day and took that time-and-a-half pay, without letting them know it was no strain on my part.
