Shrimp was once very cheap and now costs 6-8 times more than what it did 17 years ago and so has lobster. It used to be cheaper than pork or chicken or potatoes when my parents were kids. It was once called the "poor man's feast."
I’d say a mobile phone, but they’ve always been a luxury. At some people people felt everyone needed to have one. Nobody really does. We’d all survive without.

Owning a house in my country. It’s near impossible these days, a typical house in the market 8 years ago was worth $130k and is now worth $500k-$600k.
