If you could speak any language properly what would it be?

If I could have the ability to speak any language fluently, then it would have to be Mandarin. Chinese economy is on the rise and will likely take over the failing US industry as leading world economy in a few years.

Having the ability to speak Chinese can only be an advantage in this competitive environment. Also, Chinese as the dominant trade language in the world is only a few decades away and English is slowly losing ground. It is not a bad thing anyway.

If you can learn to speak Mandarin fluently, then no other language will come close to the difficulty level of that language and you could basically be fluent in any language.

I have difficulty choosing just one, because more than one interest me. I speak Chinese at home so that is important to my social relationships. I like to watch Spanish movies so learning Spanish would help. I like to listen to Jewish worship music, so learning Hebrew would be important. I like to study Arabic culture so learning Arabic would be useful for me. I like to study Hindu meditations so learning Sanskrit would help. And I like Japanese poetry styles so learning Japanese would help me too.

I already know English and Russian. If I could install a third language into my brain then probably Spanish. A lot Spanish-speaking people around the places I normally go to.

Sign language. My father is deaf and I grew up without him. But the handful of times I was around him, we just kinda smiles at each other.
I did take a college semester if sign language and I was real proud of myself. Then came the day for a visit and I started signing with him and he looked at me like I was crazy.
Apparently there is more than one type of sign language and I learned the wrong one. I didn't know 🤷🏼‍♀️
