Growing up, I heard it referred to as the "Third World" but it seems like over the course of the 2010s the term fell out of usage and people now call it the "Global South".
I've never even heard of the term "Global South" before. Although ir originally meant something else related to NATO, the "Third World" is now used to refer to underdeveloped, economically poor countries. Which is, most of the world! Hell, only three "second world" countries exist; Russia, India, and China. Most of east Europe is third-world as f*ck. That map isn't accurate or up to date.

I call it home...
The Democratic party is Changing words and replacing them with their chosen one's. One day people speaking English won't even be able to communicate or understand what someone is saying to them.
One word they need to cancel all together I'd the word "Racist". A diesel truck, cheese, are called racist now.🙄

I'm not familiar with the term "Global South" but it sounds better than "Third World" which is something I hate.
This is so stupid because we're all part of the same world. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I’ve always heard it referred as third world. I’ve never heard of global south
I think of it more like parasites and hosts. The U. S. and European colonial powers basically suck the blood out of the rest of the world.
And then there are the globalist bankers, elites and corporations at the top of the vampire hierchy who prey on everyone.- u
I don't use First World, or Third world, to describe a nation's development, because those terms are inaccurate.
The terminology "First/Second/Third World" don't apply in this case, as those expressions were used to denote the grouping of national alliances during the Cold War. First World being the US/European alliances, Second World being the communist alliances, and Third World encompassing all remaining, unaffiliated nations.
no, I usually use sh^thole instead whenever I talk about a country that I don't like. most countries are usually in pitiful states and there's barely an handful that are "tolerable". I only use third world in the cold war context (a neutral country).
Don't be daft.
Those terms are outdated as the Soviet Union no longer exists.
Also, there are places in the USA, Australia and Europe poorer than places in Africa and the Middle East.
I keep calling them third world countries, shithole countries is also accurate term from Trump.
I don't know what “global south” even means. It’s like the people who came up with it don’t understand that there political power centers below the equator.
''Poor countries'' is all I need to outline the regions in question.
I'm not a friend of 'newthink' word constructions, or euphemystic treatment of the less blessed.
Developing World is the proper Terminology from a Business perspective. I’ve got interests in the developing world of SE Asia.
Lol, no. "Global South" Is SJW PC term treadmilling.
Tbh i never heard either of them until trump took office.
Then i hear third world a lot.
We usually just said the country's name
First and second world countries just meant democratic and communist. Everyone else was considered third world. It's been (rightfully) bastardized since.
I have never heard the term Global South before
Neither. Countries shouldn’t be named by however poor they are.
That doesn’t make much sense sine Australia is south.
The “global south” is the politically correct word for all the shitty nations, yes.
"Global South" is new to me.
Only in mississippi or alabama
pretty much the US is a 3rd world country
Third world.
