Zombie outbreak, only these weapons available, what would you choose?

First, EXCELLENT song choice. That whole album is amazing, and STAY is one of my all-time favorite songs.

Second, I chose the baseball bat. Here's my reasoning:

- The bow & arrows are great in that they are a distance weapon, so you can take out zombies if you can remain out of their reach, BUT arrows are finite and quickly consumed, and also easy to damage. You'd need constant replacements in order for this weapons system to be viable.

- The machete and axe both have a major flaw: they are easy to get stuck in a zombie, which means you are having to try to wrestle your weapon free while other zombies are free to attack you. That is bad. VERY bad.

- The bat is a blunt force weapon. It's not going to get stuck, and it's not going to be easily grabbed and pulled from you. The bat also has a knob, which gives you leverage to pull it away. A bat can be swung quickly, do it's damage (it can easily break bones and skulls) without getting stuck, and can thus be swung again and again. And if you could get an aluminum bat, you'd have a nearly indestructible weapon.

Given the limited choices, the bat is easily the superior choice.

Now, if you could equip a whole GROUP of people, then I would give 60% bats, 15% each axes and machetes, and 10% bows & arrows. That way, there is some stand-off ability, plus plenty of melee weapons, including a few sharp ones that can solve the occasional problem that a bat wouldn't be the best choice for.

either a machete or axe... I do have over 20 years experience with both

and I think that the blunt part of the axe could be more reliable, the machete could get stuck or need more force and aim to be more effective

Is the baseball bat wooden or aluminum? Otherwise I would take the axe. The machete would go dull pretty quick.

Machete maybe. With the baseballs bat might not be able to get a kill first swing, a full size axe might be to heavy to swing.
