What can I do to help?

I want to help support the medical front in Ukraine. But my parents are not allowing me, neither is my boyfriend. They keep on claiming it is to dangerous for me.

I've got family in Ukraine and I want to help. I'm on my 2nd year of being a student nurse and I am thinking about leaving university. I feel empty. I wamt to help people back home.

I was going to help in the summer of this year but my parents demanded that they have both of my passports. I can't leave the country now. I've donated as much as I can. I'm 23 yes and they have taken my passports like I am a child.

What can I do?

Tell them to return it or you’ll take legal action. 👐

You’re of legal age; they have no authority over you, than moral advice/council. Their job as parents are done.

While you wait to plan your next step, consider other ways that you can help Ukraine without actually going overseas.

• Donations, or canned drives.

• Starting a goFundme for Ukraine online? In your local community? At your university?

It may be a good idea, in the sense they would provide their medical teams with a safe area and some minor food provisions. That could help you in your personal situation, possibly, but there’s a very high chance your financial/ food provision situation could look a bit worse. Consider all the pros and cons and see if anyone you know, or anyone in the medical facilities are indeed, going overseas.

Plan it out so whichever route you choose, it will have a higher chance of being a successful/efficient one.

Contact Doctors Without Borders and the American Red Cross and ask them that question. The UN can also put you in touch with agencies that need assistance, possibly where you are now so you can help but not actually going to Ukraine itself.
