I love it!
We grow quite a few herbs, fruits and veggies in raised beds. Also some fruit, since tomatoes are fruit. Oh and blackberries climbing up a fence. We would grow more, but it's a hassle protecting them from ground squirrels, voles and deer.
Anyway, it's really fun to harvest your own produce. It tastes wonderful and is so much healthier than commercially produced food. We don't use chemicals.
It helps with the budget, too. :-)
We have a small orchard, too, with several kinds of fruit, including various citrus.
We don't have any chickens right now. We had four at one time, for about a year, but... well... bobcat. But we do have a good source of home grown eggs.

Yeah we have a little garden in the back yard where we grow a variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs, I think it's good not only because it's organic and healthier but because it's useful to know how to garden or farm and grow your own food and maintain your crop. It's a good skill and knowledge to have.
My grandfather on my mothers side when he was alive had a huge backyard where he not only had a massive garden of flowers and plants but also chickens as well as a miniature farm fruit tree's, grain, vegetables, fruit, the yard was more of a farm and less of a back yard lol. But pretty much anything he touched when it came to plants sprang to life he had the golden touch when it came to plants. His family used to own a dairy farm/company.
Farming and gardening has been in my family a couple generations at least.
I haven't gardened in a while because I work in the grain industry and between the hard work and working with grain all day I haven't really felt like toiling in the garden but it is something I do enjoy and it can be relaxing and rewarding work.
There is one problem with relying on garden vegetables which is that they all ripen around the same time so you can't space out your consumption of them. In previous years we would freeze the tomatoes by converting them into tomato sauce but some of it would go bad and we ran out of containers to hold them and space in our fridge.
Yes! Mostly easy veggies tho. I tried an artichoke once and the ants turned it into a hotel complete with underground parking. Poor thing.
My family grows, raises or harvests a lot of it's own produce and meat.
We have a large garden with lots of vegetables, herbs, squash, berries and melons.
We can a lot of it. We also have cattle, chickens, hunt a lot of our read meat.
yes. but it is not easy where I live... because I have so many little thieves that go around and snatch it, just when it's ripe. Apparently they think my yard is a buffet.
I prefer my homegrown over grocery bought. I find tomatoes have some much more flavor. Love the zucchini I get during the summer period too, not as woody as store bought.
I haven't had much luck. I wouldn't say I have a brown thumb, but it's v definitely not a green thumb. I'm thinking of trying hydroponic this year.
Yes I do grow some of my food. Spring will be here soon enough so I am contemplating what to plant this year. Corn will be one of them.
Yes, and perhaps.
I do have a selection of herbs, fruit and veggies in my ''garden'' - but it frustrates me that it's not enough for the entire village :)

I've tried before... but it is not easy at all to grow Tacos al Pastor...
I like it. The results of my last two gardens have been pretty dismal though. I have to build something to keep the critters out.
We have an apple tree and we make a garden for veggies in the summertime.
That's something I do on a pretty large scale...
Haven’t been able to in years, but we had a huge garden when I was a kid and I definitely miss it
Is not something I do but is definitely I plan on doing in the future.
Spices, herbs, peppers and citrus? Sure but when it comes to farming meat and crops, i don't have space nor time for it.

That sounds good, but it’s perfect for farmers
Yes, we grow a variety of fresh vegetables in the summer. Bur our growing season is short.
I love having a garden, when I have a place of my own I'd love to grow my personal garden.
I would not enjoy that.
