For those who play Pokémon Go why would a friend not open my gift for months and why is he not responding to my battles?

Is he a IRL friend or is he just a friend added? Some people just don’t play often or open gifts. I’m sure it’s been weeks since I last opened gifts and honestly I don’t really send or open unless there’s an event. Especially since the Pokémon haven’t changed in it so to me it’s not worth taking up the space in my egg inventory -and with the current mini event going on with hatch rates dropped I’d rather prioritize spin eggs over friendship eggs. If it’s an irl friend that’s actively trying to accept and send gifts and accept battles (which have to be close by) he may need to delete the app and redownload it.

He’s an irl friend his last gift was like in January and he doesn’t respond to the pvp battles like I’m waiting with no accepting or rejecting like is it a bug? Lol

Are you actively in contact with him when you try to initiate a battle with him. Or are you trying to initiate a battle and he’s not playing

Someone just told me to download the app and I did but I haven't tried it yet. Is it fun? I've never really played any online games before.
