Look at evolution. All things gravitate toward what is more functional and comfortable. Change is part of life. As we learn what works or doesn't work for us, we tend to fine tune the person we are. Change is greatest when we are young and tends to become less as we age and find our true space in life.

The problem comes when you encounter the many people who feel they need to pretend they are something else in order to be attractive in the eyes of others. They live a lie in order to get what they want. Once they get what they want, they often remove their mask and say "If you love me, you'll accept me as I am." Bait and switch only leads to disappointment, as no one likes to be lied to.
