Do people really change?

I'm asking for the ladies. So I'm bisexual and was with man for 7 years. We were High School sweethearts. I was 16, and he was 17. It was fine the first year. You know how everyone is like "Omg the gay couple at school. So cool". Well after that year he started getting a bit... Aggressive... I would never use the word abusive to describe him because when he was happy he was the most amazing man in the world... But when he was mad. I became a punching bag. Emotionally and physically. On my 18th birthday he got mad that I went to see my dad for most of the day and he broke my nose and eye socket but felt so bad for it and bought me whatever I wanted the next day. That's how pretty much 6 years of my life was. My boyfriend getting mad and beating tf out of me and then giving me things to make up for it. I eventually left him and he did not take it well. He ran over my leg with a car. He's reaching out to me now saying he is a changed men and even went to anger management... I would be lying if I said I wasn't tempted...

People can change, but eh sounds so toxic I wouldn't risk it. I don't think it is possible for someone to change that much. Once an aggressive, toxic human, always an aggressive toxic human (except for rare circumstances). Find someone who will treat you how you deserve to be treated (hint: not like the way he treated you). Do yourself a kindness and ignore or reject his offer.
