Honoring the dead. Weird or endearing?

So I’ve held onto some things of my mother and I’ve posted pictures and kept her collectibles. Is it weird or endearing to want to remember her by these things?

Honoring the dead is the second most endearing act mankind can perform, right behind laying down one's life for one's friends.

How many graves hold stories that are long forgotten because their decedent's did not pass them along? How much wisdom, truly and beauty has been lost because the next generation neglected the previous one?
