Well, they died, just like every other ancient person. Their descendants, ethnic Copts, still mostly live in Egypt, but they're a minority, and have been since not long after the Arabian empire conquered them. Relations between the two peoples are, sadly but not surprisingly, less than ideal, especially since most Copts are still Christian, and most Egyptian Arabs Muslim.
