Are most Americans anti-social?

From what I've observed in this site, most people tend to dislike and distrust others and don't have a lot of friends. Is this an American thing or it's only on this site?

Uhh... Yeah, this site is not a representation of anything except the people who happen to join it. If you want to see how Americans really are, you have to actually go & be around them & form your own conclusion.

Not disagreeing though. I have heard that Americans exhibit a more isolated personality type because of the way everything is structured here.

Right. I don't like making generalizations; was just curious.
What I've also noticed from those that I've met online is that they get easily offended. Don't know if it's the same in real life, as well 🤷‍♂️

First off you should never trust people online they are just too much of a mystery to trust in full because most people aren't themselves online they're different personalities people also tend to be more mean online because they're behind a screen they're no conquences they're no connection it's easy and it's gross but it is what it is. Americans are not anti social if were comparing the to other countries. There are a lot of anti social beings in America but that doesn't define every American.

I qm due to social anxiety. Have two best friends and still keep in touch with one classmate on Facebook.

But overall, I won't talk to anyone unless they speak to me first. Even so, I'm a woman of very few words.

Here in the South, most people aren't anti-social.

Having social anxiety or being shy or not very talkative, doesn't mean that one necessarily is antisocial 🤷‍♂️

No, they're not. Most Americans are sociable. GAG and other social media tends to attract the bitter, mad at the world types who anonymously bash others. Right now I can name eight users who come on this site to do nothing but trash women. I feel sorry for them in a way.

Oh ok fair enough. I only knew three Americans in real life and they all seemed pretty friendly. I don't like making generalizations

Fortunately there are enough decent people on GAG that keep me coming back. But there are quite a few that come on here who get pretty vile, so I can see where you might be getting that perception. Some of my countrymen (including some in their 50s and above) are in bad need of self-discipline, some clearly need adult supervision.

Some of them that I know personally, are just way too “mind my/your own business” / “cut off everybody” / “better off alone” / “I don’t need anybody” / “no social life no problem” / “independent” / “people sucks” type of person.

Yeah I've noticed.. The type exists on Gag as well.. Very negative, argumentative and easily offended

No most Americans aren't anti-social. Quite the contrary. I might be a bit on the antisocial side because I don't like dealing with people for long but I'm one of the few that doesn't. There are a lot of social people on this site and in America.
