As for me I believe in a lot of things & most of all I believe in doing the right thing. As for shopping carts I love my vehicle & I also have respect for other people’s vehicles so I always return my cart because on a windy day carts do damage when they fly across the parking lots. Also I think about the cart people & associates that have to collect those things. I pick up a cart I return it & sometimes I pick up a cart that isn’t mine when I go into the store.

i think it’s a very good judge of character.
integrity-what you do when no one is watching.
the same kind of lazy, arrogant, self-serving parasites are the same kind of people that make a big mess at restaurants at their table, tail-gate, and change their mind about items in their grocery cart and leave merchandise that needs to stay refrigerated on a random shelf on the other side of the store.
its a HUGE indicator of character.
I do believe that the shopping cart theory holds some merit. It is a simple yet effective way to observe someone's ethical decision making and attitude toward responsibility. Returning the shopping cart after use is a small act that doesn't offer any immediate benefit or reward, so someone's choice to go out of their way to return it regardless can indeed be indicative of larger moral character and values.
Sort of neutral on it. Sure, it’s rude if you don’t return the cart to it’s spot, and it’s annoying for the workers who have to retrieve it, but I don’t think it’s a accurate way to determine someone’s morals.

Yes, I live in the UK and it's very rare to see someone abandon a shopping cart, so to see so many Americans have such a hissy fit over it and not be able to just simply return it, makes me think they're a bit entitled and lazy (The Americans that do this OFC, not all).
With the attitude of 'well it is their job', I have also seen people leave restaurants a mess, or even just McDonalds and say 'its the worker's job to clean it', for me I always clean up after myself it was how I was raised and nothing to be proud of as it should just be basic human decency.
it's a little thing, yes...
but if you just leave the cart anywhere just because you're careless... then you're just getting used to that, to being careless and others will notice it too
it means you lack in character... you would not want this to be seen by your kids, or your partner and for them to start doing the same with other little things that might not be a big deal to them, but they will be for you when they affect youI guess it depends how you look at it, I have noticed I bring them back when it's a store with no cart collector, normally I out them in the slots outside or leave them, after all without my wreckless placement, the cart collected guy will be bored lol
I was in the UK several years ago, and there WAS a reward for returning the trolley. It took a one pound coin to rent the trolley, and you got one pound back when you returned it.
If I'm. shopping alone I tend to return it. If I'm with my kids i don't. I'm not leaving my toddlers in car to put cart away. I do leave it somewhere it's not going to cause any issues
I don’t think it’s a solid judge of character but at the same time… just put it back
