How comfortable are you speaking in front of large groups of people?

Confidence builds confidence. I’ve been telling my daughters this their whole life. If you know the subject material thoroughly, then you should have no problem getting in front of people and speaking about it.
When I first came in the military I was told that I was going to have to give a class. It was some thing about which I was not confident. I knew I could do it if I had to, but to teach others, the whys and wherefores, I was not ready. It would have been an utter failure. Over time I realized this, and determined to make myself sure of the skill so if I was ever called to teach it again that I would be able to give a good class.
Eventually, I became an instructor. I was in front of a lot of arrogant Special people and they thought they knew everything and every single class I had to teach them that while they are intelligent and knowledgeable they do not know everything. It was my job to teach them as much as possible, and to STFU and read a book and write a report and just do WTF I said.

I can't stand it! I'm an introvert, so I do much better in small group settings-

Better still, someone can talk on my behalf: I will do the grunt work and write the speech, someone can speak on my behalf, lol. I -can- speak in front of groups, and have had to in the past: from college courses that force me to do public speaking, to my job where I've had to talk in front of a large room of people.

Thankfully I've gotten MUCH better over the years. Not by choice, unfortunately all my jobs have required me to be somewhat extroverted and social, so I had to basically teach myself to get better. I can fake it; I just blindly look ahead in the room; not at a particular person, just straight ahead as I'm talking, and work on talking at a slow, normal pace (the old, nervous me spoke 100 wpm to hurry up and finish). I'm not perfect, but I can fool people into thinking I am decent at speaking in groups, lol.

But definitely rather not if I had a choice, lol.

After the first ten seconds? Just fine. In fact, I like it and part of my career has been built on my ability to speak publicly.

But even now, I struggle with feeling like my heart will explode before I actually get going.

It's less now than the first several dozen times, but still there.

Fortunately I seem to hide it well and not many people catch on if I'm nervous.

I completed a public speaking course, so I am fine with it. I don't enjoy it, but I can do it.

But if it's like group of 6 people then I feel uncomfortable
