Animals: Chicken, alpacas and goats
Crops/plants: I would mix things up with different grains. Emmer, Greenkernel, or bulgur most prominently I guess.
Second I would grow mushrooms. They take not much place and I just like them.
At last some kind of fruit or vegetable. I guess tomatoes are always available to grow in small gardens. I would go for zucchini as my third plant.
So for the why: Eggs are so extremely widely usable. Alpacas can be used as a "event" thing and they give great wool + you can make soap from it.
Goats give milk and another type of wool. I dont want to have animals for meat so these are my choices.
Emmer: While often not as resistance to pesticide it can be greatly used for anything from flour to seitan.
Greenkernel can be used as a rice substitute and can still be used as flour even though it is not as good for baking.
Bulgur is another grain which can be directly used and is usable for so many things.
Mushrooms as I said dont need much place as I heard and I just like mushrooms I dont know much about it yet as I didn't plan on growing mushrooms myself in reality.
Zucchini is just a great plant and a base vegetable usable for so much. It just has not much alternative uses aside from being a vegetable.
Those are really interesting grains, I never would have thought of and bulgur is actually the only one I even have heard of.
also, mushrooms is a great idea; it's good for the environment as well. Takes a while, though, depending on what kind you want. I've heard 5 years or so from planting plugs in a log to get harvest. But you could do indoors a bit faster, I think.
Plants : Lettuce/ Tomatoes/Cucumbers
Animals: Cows/Goats/Chickens
I want to be able to make salads and use plants for healthy diets and choice of animal to get milk from the cows , eggs from the chickens, have goats to eat the grass to save me from cutting the grassy land.
I would plant corn, wheat and soy. I would raise cattle , sheep and chickens.
