People my age or older: do you remember a night about 50 years ago that lasted WAY longer than it should've?

I'm pretty sure I was up on the third floor, by then so, that'd put it somewhere in late `68 or up to the early `70's
I went to bed one night and, I'm pretty sure I'd been asleep for a LONG time and had to get up to pee so, I went down to the bathroom on the second floor and took a whiz and started to wonder why the night is lasting so long since it's about 5 or 6 a. m. and it's still night time! Rather than get up for the day, as I normally would, since it was still dark out, I went back upstairs to bed where I slept for at least another 6 hours or better and couldn't WAIT for the night to be over, already!! When I woke up hours later, it was still dark out! I kept waiting for the night to end so I could get up and start my day but that never came! Nearest I can tell, we went at least 16 hours with no daylight!

Maybe the blinds were drawn or maybe you lived in Alaska. I went to school with this kid from Alaska. He said his mother used ot put aluminum foil over the windows because the days were really long and it was hard to sleep in the daytime. Then the nights would be long too.
