it's easy to stop talking, but it's impossible to stop hearing. What people struggle with is knowing when to shut up, stop hearing and actually listen.
Sight only lets us see so far in one direction, speaking only reaches those willing to listen but listening gives you a 360° picture of the world around you.
I agree with what is said. I heard it a little bit different though. Instead of 👅 tongue it was mouth.
I used to kinda interrupt people many years ago until I taught myself to wait to say anything until they are finished speaking first. When I am listening to someone talking to me on the phone, I give them my full attention as I am listening. So now people ask "Are you there"? Then I tell them I'm just a good listener that's all 🙂
I don't think that how much we listen or talk is driven by a biological imperative, but a matter of learning.
Your username is very appropriate. Well said.
there's a reason why we do hear... even during our sleep
more than we talk, during our sleep...

Well, some people listen better than others, so I can't really answer that. Some have a disability with listening--it's called auditory processing--in other words, you hear someone talking, but it takes time to think about what they are saying. I have this myself unless I listen carefully. I am a better talker, but I do prefer to listen in a conversation. nonetheless.
That’s probably why the possible cause of his death includes a voluntary demise by holding his breath.
He probably tried really hard to listen and not say anything.
We are built to interact. This means in one situation more listening, in another more talking. and in some both things equally
The reason we have two ears is so we can hear equally well from both left and right. Similar to the benefits of getting surround sound for TV and such.
We have only one tongue because there’s literally no benefit of having more.
Diogenes lived in a barrel so I am not taking what he says as sensible.
It might be true but some people do talk a lot more than they listen, they should of been born with 2 tongues and maybe NO ears at all 😄
I try to keep my mouth shut and watch and listen. People have told me that it is creepy.
Silent and listen, spelled with same letters
Some are talkers and some are listeners. And some are a balance of both. Takes all kinds to make the world go round.
You would think that's how it works but some people don't know when to shut up and listen
I feel like we'd all be doing better if we did listen more.
It does not seem. like it no one listens anymore that is why everything is screwed up.
We’re built for everything to give orders, and to listen, and to receive orders
Diogenes was correct.
