Do you think pedophiles are born that way or become that way? What plays a role?

Question

When you hear about a pedophile male or female, do you think they were born that way or did certain factors influence them to become that way. For example especially teachers sleeping with their teenage students, it’s most commonly female ones with male students but it’s also male teachers as well. Could it be childhood trauma? Not living life to the fullest when they were teenagers or young? Abuse? Other contributors? Either way this is wrong and awful…

I believe that they become that way.

I’m guessing it’s something having to do with their child development, which primes them later on in life.

Just like how childhood trauma can create a sociopath, I believe that unhealthy child-development can leave them more predisposed to developing pedophilia.

I really doubt there are born that way because sex with prepubescent children serves no evolutionary purpose.

Neither procreation or even emotional connection can truly be established. It’s purely predatory sexual deviance.

I’m guessing it’s somewhat related to not receiving enough love as a child, so now they want to take it by force.

There’s an argument for gay folks being born gay, because we can see that across the animal kingdom in different species.

But, we don’t see pedophilia in the animal kingdom.

Neither do we see necrophilia in the animal kingdom.

That’s why I believe that pedophiles are not mentally well, and something happened to them during their development that made them predisposed to developing this mental illness later in life.

If they want to argue that it’s out of their control, they have a MUCH stronger argument if they blame their child development and upbringing rather than saying they were just born that way.

For them to say they were born that way is ridiculous to me. The gay community can say that — not the pedophiles.

But even if they were to take a step back and blame their childhood development instead, it doesn’t excuse them for their actions.

If a person was sexually abused as a child, it doesn’t give them the right to sexually abuse children when they are an adult.

Experiencing trauma doesn’t give someone the right to inflict trauma upon others.

Another pathway towards pedophilia outside of child development issues is chronic pornography use, and going places where they shouldn’t go.

Like a gateway drug, they may have started with normal porn, but if they develop an addiction, they may seek out ‘stronger stuff’ to get their fix when the normal porn doesn’t do it for them any more.

And like a drug addict looking for harder and harder drugs, they end up getting off to some illegal content. From drinking alcohol to ending up in a dodgy back alley, shooting their arm up with meth.

It’s a gradual progression. Nobody is born that way. Not hard drug users. Not pedophiles.

I think it's natural to see sex appeal where it exists. Where it doesn't is where pedophiles look for their thrills. I was introduced to sex at 11 years of age. It was ongoing and consensual. I don't regret it and I don't think it influenced my tendency to see sex appeal wherever it exists. I still prefer my women older than me even though the girls were my age and a couple years younger. If I knew then what I know today, I would have asked them if they had older friends with similar interests. At age 29, I wouldn't have turned down the advances of a 13 year old. At age 33, I told an Army friend that she'd have to turn 18 before I'd hook up with her. She held me to it. No regrets. Society would call me a hebephile because I see sex appeal wherever it exists. I wouldn't turn down an 18-year-old skinny girl because she's too old. I'd turn her down for not having the sex appeal of a woman. Today, I want a healthy woman with hips. By healthy, I mean she looks like she might live a few more decades.

i did google why they exist like a year ago. from what i remember they're not born like that. to keep it short people who are attracted to people younger than about 16 years old, especially below 14-15, its cause they had some time of brain injury, neurological condition or trauma (often sexual) that stunted the growth of certain parts of their brain in childhood or early teen years. those brain areas never mature beyond that age and depending on what brain areas where stunted it can stunt your age preference or at least keep you attracted to the age you had that area stunted. some serial rapists can also pick kids even though they're not attracted to them because they're easy to silence and manipulate and they kinda use them like a sex toy. for younger teens you could also get a fetish for them (its hard to get one for little kids, but its a bit easier for teens since they're partially developped), though to get the fetish you kinda have to have been a teen overexposed to certain types of porn and also have mysogynistic tendencies (for straight dudes), and a desire for power and control over someone else typically. for people attracted to 16-17 yos, even though its tbh not very moral to have sex with them if your a grown ass person, that's actually normal (cos biologically they're fully developped at least for girls. boys i think finish that later)

i think like killers they indulge in something they shouldn't have... maybe it's just having child sex themselves... i think it's cultivated rather than born with... take a killer he may have very different brothers morally speaking and other ways but only he is the killer.

They're born that way- or, rather, they're born in what will become that way; the race won't start until puberty, but the course is set.

You are mistaken, however, in bringing up teachers and students. In the vast, VAST majority of cases of such abuse (and it IS abuse), it's with teenage students who are very definitely pubescent, and thus not what pedophiles are interested in. They're attracted to CHILDREN, not MINORS; the distinction is physical, rather than mental. What you're talking about are ephebophiles.

I tend to think they are just people who were pretty sexual early on and met other kids they liked a lot or fell in love with at a young age, wanted to have sex with them then but never did so, they are just getting their ya-yas out, now. They're trying to make up for something they didn't get when they were kids.
I'm sure there's some that are just sick motherfuckers that prey on children, like the guy that lived next door to me that molested me and my brother & sister and probably beat off over my head one night while I was sleeping on the porch swing! (I can't say for sure it was him because he had much different hair than this guy.)

I think it’s a combination of several factors, certain genomes may be more susceptible to it. And I think it requires some sort of childhood trauma and a lack of proper moral upbringing.
