+1 yIt used to be my mind. I was always employed for it, promoted for it, when in advisory roles (aren't all of them to some extent) listened to because of it. I had a staff officer at DIV HQ that disagreed with me storm into my office after I briefed the CG something different than he did the day prior bellowing "who am I and why do I think I'm so smart?"... I just pointed to the Mensa: Lifetime Member plaque I kept on the wall for just that purpose. He turned and walked out.
Now it's definitely my heart. It's severely damaged. It'll never have the capacity it once did, and when they told me I was dying and I couldn't shoot back at the enemy it made me reevaluate what's important to me. I was good at what I did. Like, REALLY good. I've collected enough scars from giving my job my everything to last a lifetime. I got to leave the game at the height of my career instead of getting old and slow and having to sit the bench until they give me an honorary coaching job. The time I have left I'm going to spend taking care of what matters on this side of the pond. I'm not going to regret it. I'm not going to pine for another deployment, though I'll always have fond memories of my times away, and I'm going to stay here and give my rescue kittens the absolute best life I can. Oh yes, and there will be snacks.

+1 yPhysically, I guess my eyes are the thing I donāt have any real complaints about, theyāre a pretty cool color. Itās hit or miss with the ladies, but I enjoy having blonde hair too, I feel like it makes me a little bit more of a rare bird, haha.
Personality-wise, probably my sense of humor. Lifeās better with laughing, so I like to laugh a lot, and depending who you ask, Iām fairly good at generating some laughter too. You need that person to keep the mood light, so Iām glad to be that guy.

+1 yI have always liked my optimism, creativity and positivity. I also like that I can find pleasure in little things.
My mind has always been my stronger side, which often helped me compensate for my hotheaded tendencies. I am not a genius, and I know that there are a lot of things I donāt know, but I have always felt confident about my mind.
Youāve stood out to me because of your mind too, which I respect.

Let's not forget that he also likes kittens, rescue or otherwise. He's a smart guy. We don't always agree on stuff, but he's not an idiot, and he has a genuine interest in bettering others. Admirable profession, this one. - +1 y
I really like that you are so devoted to your zig zag race career. I say that only half-jokingly. You have a genuine zeal for life, and you don't mind dancing down the sidewalk. It's contagious, and for that you should be proud.

Crap... one of those was @msc545 one of those was @LaFemmeFatale_1
... I f'ed that up because I was briefing the DAD while I typed it so it looked like I was taking furious notes at what he was saying and I didn't reply in the right thread position on those properly... y'all are smart... you'll figure out who I'm talking about where :P - +1 y
@BoopBoopBeep hahaha, I realized which one is for me. Iāll take over that Mensa plaque!
Dancing down the sidewalk? I am sure youād join, had you been there! Youāve got no less zeal for life than I do.

There may be some crip walk involved... there may also be some moon walk... and there may be some running man just to up the "no shame" factor. Back before my heart attack there was a corner bakery that I loved. Not MY corner, because there's nothing where I live, but once you get "in town"... anyway little old lady from some eastern european country that ran it was super cute. Spoke great English but SUPER heavy accent. Always covered in flour. I was dancing down the sidewalk on the way to get a baguette because I'd just gotten a call that a target from my last deployment that I never got around to taking off the board was finally prosecuted, so I was doing a little victory dance. She saw me through the window and came out to her porch (the bakery was a converted home she bought half a block away from where she lived). She was dancing with a baguette, twirling around and dipping it. She said she knew I really liked them but didn't know I danced my way in. Of course I told her for baguettes that good how could I not? That's why I came every Saturday. All the way up to my next deployment when I went to get my baguette we'd dance on her porch with a baguette.
She told me once I reminded me of her husband. I asked her how, she said we followed the same path in life. I said "your husband was a soil sample analyst?" She winked and patted my hand and said "yes yes... something like that. Baguettes *long pause* made him just as happy too."
I would have loved to sit down with her in a little alley bar somewhere private and ask why she had whatever suspicious she had. I remember coming home from deployment 6 or 7 and the place was all boarded up. Her house had new residents in it. I hope when her time came she was dancing on a porch. - +1 y
Er..."I reminded HER"... thought that and "you remind me" at the same time and mixed the two. That's why you shouldn't G@G in teleconferences I guess.
- +1 y
@BoopBoopBeep Haha, have never tried crip walk, but we could sync in moon walk, and Iāve been told youāre really good at Bachata?
Your Eastern European lady would have a smile of prideful satisfaction on her face now, had she known you are cheating and sneaking out of your teleconferences, to tell a story of how you loved dancing with her.
Sheād give you some free Baguettes! - +1 y
I think a synchronized moon walk down the street would be a site to see. Luckly the approach is all downhill and relatively smooth. It's 3 miles from my house. She asked why I rarely drove. I told her the walk home with the warm bread under my nose was always a nice way to force myself to slow down (I didn't have rescue kittens to rush home to then), and occasionally I'd see a raccoon or opossum or something and share my bread.
Haha, I have been told I can hold my own at bachata. Perhaps on the porch after the moonwalk infiltration... - +1 y
@BoopBoopBeep You walked 3 miles with a Baguette under your nose and never chewed it off? - Sounds like M in BDSMā¦
My Bread smelled so nice, I used to buy 3, one for myself to bite the corners on my way home, which was just 100 meters, but that bread smelled too nice to not be bitten.
We didnāt have opossums, neighbor pigeons loved it.
Bachata is a good cardio! No less than races.
Good luck with your teleconferences. Iāll go grab my cheese! and bread. - +1 y

I didn't say it was always the same size when I got home :P

@BoopBoopBeep Thanks Boop! I like that you are one of the brightest people I know, and you love cats a much as I do!
+1 yI love my mind as well as my smart mouth lol. I love how easily I connect with most people. I am a very loving person but in a direct mind of way. I don't beat around the bush. I'm going to tell you what's on my mind and tell you the harsh truth even if you don't want to hear it. I wish my people did that with me. So that's what I love about myself.

So you like being frank or direct with people even at the cost of hurting their feelings or creating rifts in your relationships? That's rather brave maybe lol. Or maybe you really just don't care about how they feel. I had an ex like that. I think there are pros and cons to being this way.
