Lena Horne or Aaliyah - who do you think was more influential?

I know, I know. Y’all are probably thinking this is the most random comparison.

But, let’s put it into perspective.

Let the Aaliyah stans tell it, Aaliyah was a groundbreaking and pioneering entertainer that opened up the doors for everybody. None of our faves would be here if it wasn’t for Aaliyah’s revolutionary and forward thinking music and talent inspiring everybody. Aaliyah is pretty much the reason music exists, the reason music videos exist, and the reasons ALBUMS exist.

Now on the other hand, we have Lena Horne who was pretty much the Black community’s first leading lady in movies, and the first triple threat - singer, dancer, actress. Made history when she signed that MGM contract back in the 40s.

Who would y’all say?

Well Lena did make history whereas Aaliyah was more of an up and coming artist still at the beginning of what looked like would be a flourishing career.. But you never know, she probably could have fell off in a few years if tragedy didn't happen.. I mean she could sing and seemed like a decent actress, but nothing crazy.. In the end Aaliyah probably had more of an influence because of it was the death of a possible rising star..

She owed her career to marrying her husband R Kelly. She was 15 and he was 27.
