I went to home depot yesterday and bought a few items. As I was using the self checkout and when I scanned a can of spray paint the machine beeped loudly and told me that a sales associate needed in intervene. I had no idea what the issue was but the sales associate scanned her badge and She certified that I was oveer 18 years old. She did not ask me for an ID because I am old but I imagine if I was youngwr I would have.

As I drove home I wondered what is amore important buying spray paint or voting since you do not need to show ID in the state I livde in

ID for spray paint is to ensure that HD is not supplying juveniles for vandalism. Yeah, here in the Free State of Florida, you must show photo ID and I don't know why this would be a problem for anyone.

Sounds like something some states would do. They want to limit some of the social media challenges about sniffing paint from a spray can.

There's a sad story of a 6yo boy who did that at a friend's house before going to bed for a sleepover. He was found unconscious the next morning and died a few days later. Turned out the other boy's parents encouraged him to sniff paint from a spray can, because there was a social media challenge. Both parents are now charged with manslaughter and endangering a youth.

That’s just Home Depot or Lowe’s or Ace or whichever private business trying to cover their own asses legally. Same reasons you need ID for a lighter at the convenience store or Sudafed at CVS. Humans enjoy drugs, and when drugs are unavailable to you or if you’re super weird, you’ll turn to that sort of thing to get where you’re trying to go, haha

Huffing f*cks a lot of young people up. It’s otherwise quite easy to get spray paints, modeling glue, permanent markers, etc. Actually Amazon is becoming a national leader in dealing restricted products to kids, and everyone hugs on those nuts.
Since we can’t get voters to elect decent human beings to office anyway, i think checking ID for dangerous inhalants purchases is more important.
