1 yLife doesn't have any purpose built in. If you are an existentialist, you provide your own purpose like Albert Camus. If - I believe- that if you're living life fully you always will be as chose to the present moment as you can. Thich Nhat Hanh writes quite a bit about that. If you spend a lot of time in service to others, many would consider that "purpose. I consider that admirable but I believe too many people rob it of it's true purpose because they do that for some ultimate reward. Christians call it heaven but I don't think they have a real strong grip on reality. I think the early desert christians following Thomas the Gnostic were close but the church demands orthodoy and conservatism so the majority followed Iraneus instead of Thomas & after choosing the wrong path would never seek again. I certainly don't think that any form of jiad could be considered purpose, The two sages I would follow and who I read for answering question along those lines are the Sutras of Buddhism- in all of its manifestations such as Therevaden, Mahayana, Zen, Tibetan et al and Lao Tzu. I dislike Confucious who spent too much time revering his elders but Lao Tsu had some incredible insights. In tests run inhospital conditions with the most develoed observation of where the brain lights up during happiness and scientists found the most happy people were the Tibetan Buddhis monks. One, a French gentleman who had every piece of status western hilopsophy could offer. His father was a philosopher, he was brought up around the most brilliant people of the era such as Stravinsky, Andre Gide and similar. He attended the most widely respected institution, L'ecole Pasteur and had an off the charts IQ. He realized he was given everything he had participated in everything the western world had to offer. He happened to travel to Tibet in his earlier years abnd realuzed how happy the Tibetan monks were even though they had to beg for food every day. His training allowed him no possesions including extra food, Whatever he ate that day was fine but he coul not save anything since to do so is essentially saying that he needs to own things because he didn't believe the universe could provide fotr him on a daily basis if he needeed to keep things. There was a book =, maybe 20 years past the original printing entitle " The Happiest Man In The World" He tries to humorously laugh it off but the reason for the name was due to a hospital (research) had him hooked to the most precise measuring tools available esp a Positive Emissions Topography machine which has about 50 electrodes on your shaven scalp that are sensitive enough to light up whenever the brain areas that scientists believe are the locations of sources of joy the brain detects & his were the most that let. It was noticed by enough scientists that he was given the sobriquet of "The happiest man in the World" the biok about him.

Most humans aren't capable of finding purposes on their own. So they for it in ideologies and religion.

1 yOur purpose seems to be to make on Earth as it is in Heaven. All descriptions of Heaven seem to have one thing in common, unending-all encompassing-unconditional love. We come into this world loving unconditionally and that is groomed and programmed out of us. I think the name Earth itself is indicative of our divine purpose. One of the simplest Cyphers used to hide a message in written word is moving the first letter to the end of a word so if we take the H and move it back to the beginning where it belongs you have Heart. To live life in an Unconditionally Loving manner is to be actively giving 5 gifts to one and all. A gift is only a gift if it's free. Free of charge and condition.
1. Acceptance- accept people for who they are as they are here and now. Not who they were yesterday or might be tomorrow.
2. Appreciation- appreciate what people do and don't do, and the roles that they fill, not just in your life but also in the lives of others.
3. Trust- trust everyone. Trust them to be who they are and do what they do even after they know you. Noone is who you think they are. They are themselves not your thoughts of them. Trust they will not change until they have shown you they have become someone new.
4. Respect- respect what people know and don't know, their strengths and their weaknesses, and especially respect their potential... their potential to make heaven or hell on Earth.
5. Forgiveness- forgive everyone including yourself for failing to live up to and be the best version of themselves possible. We will never live up to our full potential bit that does not mean we should ever stop striving.
If you give these five gifts to someone you are actively loving them unconditionally. Give them to the world and you are living in an enlightened Christlike (for lack of a better term) manner.00 Reply
The purpose of life is to craft your own masterpiece in the gallery of existence. Imagine each moment as a brushstroke, each choice as a color, and each relationship as a texture. Life isn’t about finding a grand purpose but creating a meaningful story through the small, everyday wonders and connections. It’s about leaving behind a trail of kindness, love, and unforgettable moments that linger long after you’re gone. In the end, it’s the unique, vibrant painting of your life that speaks the loudest, echoing through the hearts of those you’ve touched. 🌟🎨💖

As I understand it, per "The Selfish Gene" a 1976 book on evolution by Richard Dawkins, the purpose of life is the survival propagation of your genes.

1 yI think the main purpose from nature is to breed.
But I hate nature so I like to pull out and bust in the young fertile girl's face and then I flick my finger off out the window and yell "fuck you nature!!!" and then do something to increase global warming. Throw a plastic bottle out the window, light a tire on fire, and spray an entire can of hairspray out the window.

I just want to watch the world burn Meanwhile, the barely legal teen needs a ride home... nah... she needs to walk because gas is expensive. She's getting fat anyway.

@V_Injector I think you're probably correct from a Darwinian perspective but it seems to me that any purpose whatsoever is to demean life, I try to live- can't say I do, only try, to remain in present moment and acknowledge life being less purpose and more journey

@Makeushiver you're hitting it right in the rectum.
It's like trying to assign a purpose to why you fap. If you need a purpose then you're probably not enjoying it.
2.1K opinions shared on Other topic. The generally its to transform, its the one thing we can't stop doing. Your ever changing yourself, your beliefs are ever changing, your changing the air you breath, the food you eat, the people you interact with, etc.
The other part is to become and be your true self. If there is some kind of way you must be or some kind of grander plan you will inevitably do it as long as you do a good faith attempt to become the kind of person you would love.

20 Reply1.9K opinions shared on Other topic. The purpose of life is simply to live it. You can make it a good one or make it a bad one. It's your choice. If you were born into a fucked up life then you have to make it better for yourself, Jesus or Santa Claus is not going to make it better for you.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yTo quote Rosario Dawson's character from the movie clerks, "To f*** as much as possible, keep the species going". It's a rather crass way of saying it. But biologically that's all we are is mammals trying to propagate our species. We are just intelligent enough (well some of us anyways). To better our lot. To question our own existence. And to try to make some sense of it all rather than just slaying eachother with rocks.

1 yYou are the universe experiencing itself. The experience is love. My guess is you have a lack there of and it sucks a lot. It's ok. Because the lack will make finding it again that much more rewarding. Maybe? Yeah? Come on, live life alive mfkr ;)
