Hurricane Milton is in the news but when you hear the word Milton what springs to mind?

Lmfao, this kid I went to high school with for one year. He was a year older than me but was in our freshman biology class. I used to pull his chain a little. Nowadays they’d call it bullying😅😂

SUPER nice kid, I’m the asshole, haha, but he wore unreasonably tight jeans for the mid-90s, and he was kind of…I don’t want to say full-on dorky, but like…Butters from South Park vibes. Naive and doesn’t realize it, and he’s polite to a fault. And just the name Milton….. brutal, this day and age😂

Like one time, in class, the teacher asked him something, and he either didn’t hear it or didn’t understand the question. A normal kid would just say “sorry, what?” or “what do you mean?”, to this teacher, who was very casual, wore Birkenstock sandals to school, lmao. Not a guy you had to be buttoned-up with.

But this kid Milton responds with a quizzical “Sir?”, like we were at some elite boarding school like 100 years ago.

There was no immediate response, and after a comedic pause, I loudly blurted out “oh my GOD…”, and the whole room started laughing. Probably the teacher too, knowing him😂😂😂 I mean… I feel bad, but I was 14 or 15, give me a break😅

Buuuuttttttt, I also threw a chalkboard eraser into his back another time, just to see it blow up with chalk dust on his back. Nothing personal, he was just the guy I picked, lmao🤦‍♂️😅😂 And he just ate it, he wasn’t even mad. Just a nice guy. I did actually feel really bad about that afterwards. And he left the school after that year. I don’t think it was because of me, but I was always like “what if?”😂

And here’s the crazy part: in my mid-20s I walk into the bar I worked at, and the kid who worked in the kitchen tells me we had a new hire, “…. and guess what his name is? MILTON.” I proceed to tell the same stories I just told, and we laugh.

I walk in the next night, and guess who comes walking out of the kitchen? I lived two hours away from where we were from, I was shocked. And while he had the same goatee he had like ten years before, and was easily recognizable, I was like a different person. So he didn’t recognize me, it seemed, and if he did, he never let on.

But I told my buddy in the kitchen and he’s dying laughing, and spent the rest of the time we all worked together always jokingly threatening to blow up my spot with him, because I was like “bro, DON’T TELL HIM.”

Ended up selling the kid weed a bunch of times, too, incidentally, lmao.

But anyway, sorry for the long tale, but that’s who I’ll forever think of when I hear the name😝

There's a town near where I live called "Hershey, PA." That's where Hershey chocolate bars are made.

The guy who founded that company was named Milton. There's also a k-12 program for disadvantaged students called the Milton Hershey School which provides room and board for their students and funds a college education.

So, I think of Milton Hershey, when I think of Milton.
