What to do if beer gets into tv remote buttons?

How dare you waste good beer by spilling it into the remote. Easiest thing to do is to get a new remote.

You can try to clean the remote. Believe it or not, this works, my work used to use it at work to clean customer keyboards before it became cheaper to replace the keyboard. Use diluted Coca Cola and pour it into the remote. Then place the remote on the top rack in the dishwasher with the buttons facing down, and run it on the gentlest cycle you have. Finally, let the remote air dry, button-side up on a towel.

Take the remote apart and clean it with a damp cloth ASAP. You don't want to let the beer (which is sticky) dry inside of the remote. There may be a big piece of silicone rubber with all the buttons on it - that you can clean in hot water in the sink - it's the circuit board you need to be careful of.

If you have a hair dryer, use that to dry it. Then wait 24 hours to reassemble - if you can't dry it well, wait 48 hours. It needs to be completely dry before you apply power.

That will work, but it will take longer without heat to speed the evaporation process. What you don't want to do is have shorts created by the beer (or water) that destroy the electronics. A lot of people in similar situations do a fine job of cleaning things, but then are in too big of a hurry to use it and don't wait for it to dry, and that's when it actually gets ruined.

you can put it on the window sill and let it dry out. If the buttons are sticky try warm water and dab at the buttons. Dont immerse it in water.

IMMEDIATELY put it in a large bowl of uncooked rice and bury it completely. Wild, but it works.

It sucks/draws all of the moisture out. I dropped my cell phone in a hot tub... it sunk about two feet and tried this thinking it was bullshit. But I'll be damned about two hours later my phone powered up.

Flip it over so the button holes are facing down and use a hair drying or heat gun to try and dry it out, if you can open the remote it will be better

What about using a fan to cool the lower buttons that were soaked a little?

As long as you are using gravity against the liquid, I'd say anything that will help it dry quicker will help, the importance is keeping the liquid away from the circuits so by flipping it upside down you force any liquid to fall away from the circuits and not into them, if it leaks out of the button holes that's better than it messing with the wiring.

Also putting it upside down in a bowl of rice can also help, don't try to see if it works until it dries, in case there's any liquid in the circuits, keeping it still will prevent the liquid from moving around and doing more damage, if it's damaged beyond function then then it won't really matter but this is in case it still works

Depends on the control design and the location of its circuits and to be safe and to get the best results I think having it upside down is better than the ventilation instead of the fan you can place something absorbent by the buttons and leave the remove buttons down on it like a napkin or paper towel.
