These days you really dont have an option to "change the channel" manually, just the inputs with everything going to digital streaming.

Nah, it's easier just to get up and get the batteries.

Nope. I’m pretty sure that’s not even possible with our TV. I can mayyyyybe turn it on? Actually, I couldn’t find the remote to turn it off the other day and the one and only button on the tv didn’t do anything when I pressed it, so I just unplugged it.

I would get up... walk around all over the house to find where batteries, if not found... our out of them, would walk all the way to 7Eleven and get some but, I would NOT get up and manually change the channel

My Smart TV requires the remote to change the channel. There are buttons on the TV to do that. If the remote dies, I replace the batteries. We keep lots of batteries just for that.
