Anonymous(36-45)1 yI start my planning and shopping for the holidays October 1st, and it's not because I *just can't wait,* it's because I intentionally want to spend as much time as I can with friends and family and traveling and enjoying any off time I can get in November/December. I DO NOT want to spend that precious time cooking, cleaning, or decorating. I'm practically done with everything at this point, save for a little cooking that has to be done closer to the days needed, and cleaning/organizing. Every year, people feel stressed, and overworked and rush around doing things last minute while I'm on a couch snuggled up with family watching Christmas movies and sipping on hot cocoa because I did all the things when the stress wasn't there, there was no time crunch, and I could return things ahead of long lines, and had plenty of time to decorate. When you don't get to see friends/family often because they live out of state and out of country, you really want to maximize that family time, so you know, god forbid people start now, a?

1 yIt's annoyed me for many years. I suppose my first real reculation of what all goes on during the holiday season was about 35 years age 6 when I do not recall seeing the stores all Christmas decorated before Thanksgiving. Now going to buy candy for Halloween and the stores are already full of Christmas trees, decorations etc and by the time mid Dec gets here we are already bummed out about the season. Online shopping no better as black Friday sales begin in August. It's totally fucked up in my opinion.

1 yIt sure as fuck does!!! It also pisses me off when they take it all down at the stroke of midnight on Christmas night!! what's the matter, did you finally get sick of it?
I completely ignore Christmas shit until about 2 weeks before! I FUCKING HHATE YUPPY Christmas!! THEY FUCKING RUIN IT!! I want it the way it was when I was a kid! NO Christmas music until about a week after Thanksgiving. That first week, radio would only play a couple Christmas records per day. Second week, about 10 or 15 per day. 3rd week, mostly Christmas music. Week of, ONLY Christmas music! Following week, mostly Christmas music, next week, SOME Christmas music, next week, a couple per day if any at all.
The tree and decorations go up about 1.5 to 2 weeks before Christmas and they stay up `til at least the second weekend in Jan..31 Reply- 1 y
I agree. Should be no mention of Christmas until December and the tree should come down after new years day
1 yAnything to make a buck ! , we can’t really hate business for the money orientated society that’s been created for us. Like it or not these calendar events exist solely for that reason. Should people not be buying all the crap that’s offered then it wouldn’t be created or supplied for purchase. If you want to be annoyed at anyone then look in the mirror. We have a choice ! Unfortunately though the mass majority of folk are “sheeple” doing what they are told and competing with each other on who has the better decorations , the bigger tree , the loudest firework , the best costume and by turn of the year it’s just more fodder for landfill reminding us of just how little importance it had in the first place.
So yeah it’s just a fraction more than annoying !!00 Reply

1 yUsually it does. I'd rather fall & October be about Halloween, even this month it should stay that way. Anything else to celebrate Autumn is apple, pumpkin, and sweet potato foods. I think I'd love to decorate my own kitchen some day when I live on my own with apples when fall comes. Especially having those one ceramic apple containers like my grandpa had (I'd also want strawberry ones too).
I think they looked similar to this one, but there were 3 of them all together in small, medium, and large:
10 Reply Nope, it’s their house, their property. People will do what they want in their home and it’s none of my business. Man this is sooo insignificant to life as a whole. Literally who cares if some random people decides to put some lights on their house? I don’t know how on earth someone else’s decision to start anything early will ruin it for me… if I just mind my own. Like I’m genuinely trying to understand from your pov, but I just don’t get it. I think this is something too minor to be complaining about bc there are bigger things to worry about. We’re too old for this 🤷🏾♀️

Haha I also agree with what you said. It takes the joy away from things. I’d like to look forward to the Christmas season rather than have it shoved in my face 2 months early. Shops here already started selling stuff in September

2.9K opinions shared on Other topic. No. I don't care about what other people find joy in, nor do I have to buy Christmas things just because they're available at the store. I just ignore it and focus on my own things until I feel like I'm in the Christmas spirit myself, and then I join the bandwagon.

1 yIt annoys me when Christmas stuff comes out before Halloween has ended. After that, i don't care. Most usa people only see Thanksgiving as a means to be around family and be gluttonous anyway, then they do that again during Christmas. I just make my tree a Halloween tree and leave it like that.
10 Reply 1.1K opinions shared on Other topic. No, it doesn't bother me at all. In fact it gives me time to start gathering Christmas decorations, things to bake with when the time gets closer for that, buying Christmas cards and addressing them and sending them out, all of these things take time. And If I had to do all of them in just 3 weeks, I would feel rushed! That would take the fun out of it.
10 ReplyI agree with you. In my country we have the same situation. I visited a shopping centre on Halloween and you could literally see snowmen, Christmas trees, Santa Claus , etc. Everywhere. I love Christmas, but when you start experiencing IT so early you get tired when the actual time comes. The celebration looses it's value then.

1 yI might be in the minority but I love Christmas. It doesn't annoy me at all. There's some cable network that "Celebrates Christmas in July", they have Christmas movies on 24/7 for the whole month of July! I enjoy it 🤣🤣

My parents and I have had this conversation in the past. When they were growing up, the day after Thanksgiving was the official start of the Christmas season. They would start having Christmas movies, radio stations started to play Christmas music and the stores decorated for the holiday. Now, some of these things start as early as Oct. 1st. I don't mind but I can see how it could annoy other people, I know it really annoys my dad.

1 yBah!! humbug!! I'M TOTAL WITH YOU!! Why do we hafta listen to Mariah Carey for 8 weeks!!! It's just insane. Besides, no one is buying from your store until AFTER they compared prices on Amazon for Black Friday or Cyber Monday! I liked if when these shenanigans started after Xsiving!!

1 yI'm not even Christian, but it doesn't bother me. The country and the world are in such a state of stress right now after 4 years of failed US leadership that people need a distraction. And all of these holidays provide that distraction. They need a rest, so I understand the obsession with the holidays this year.

1 yNah but I just think it's crass because Christmas day is like 55 days away and there's only 365 days in the year. It cheapens Christmas and makes it less special

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 yNo it doesn't. It's their house. They pay the mortgage and property taxes and they have every right to decorate early if they like, regardless of what social media thinks, as if that's a proper metric for determining anything. Don't like it? Turn your fucking head and look somewhere else.

Personally I do not decorate until after stuff your face like a musket day, but I do understand why stores have to put the stuff out so early.00 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Other topic. No. Money needs to be made, and you do that by softening up the customer before the main event.
