the amount of incredibly insane stuff we people believe we can do it, lol and we make it happen and it becomes "normal"

All men believe love is entirely conditional, from every relationship they experience and the way to earn that love is specifically categorized in certain actions that can only apply to specific relationships. I. e. I can get my girlfriend to love me if I buy her gifts, or I can get my dad to love me if I take him fishing. But you won’t take your girlfriend fishing or buy your dad gifts.

Universally, for me? There is no such thing I can observe or even academically reported I know of. However, what you describe is how a child growing up would end up thinking that love is a transaction. That talks about a dysfunctional childhood, only about that.
