Since when would you say science existed?

I'd say for about 500 years, since Renaissance Period.

Hmmmm when looking at the roots, I think it has started thanks to two conditions at least?

• Conscience, intuition that something invisible could be governing the entire universe, a sort of order, in front of us, but escaping our eyes, out of our immediate senses. Further in time, needing instruments to see the unseeable. This intuition could be used to explain development of science AND development of spirituality, amusingly. Though these developments correlate anyway historically, there were even times where religion helped science. These times are long gone. But science is not good, nor evil, it is science and that comes with a lot of issues to consider. Like ethics, to say the least.
• Collective of minds wanting the same thing, exploring an intuition, since science is nothing without a collective, it is the safeguard to secure science out of one person's hands, anyway brilliant this person is. Because one person could want power and authority. Also, science cannot flourish without a collective of interesting teachers & interested pupils to pass the torch, a constant legacy.

So when those two conditions were set? I think about Ancient Greece and Rome, even before, thinking of Ancient Egypt? For science AND spirituality, again, amusingly.

The scientific method originated at about that time -- testing hypotheses against observations.
