I would vote for German cars because.

Japan makes good engine and light car, which make cars run for longer but in accident car gets more damage because its light.

USA uses heavy material which puts extra weight on engine.

Germany car weight are well balanced related to engines power, that’s why it’s driving dynamic is awesome.

Did anyone notice all this?

Those Hyundais from S. Korea are very reliable. I had one in the early 2000's I crisscrossed the country in and totaled out two or three times. After one time I had no instrument cluster aside from the shift cable, had to reattach the rear wheel, and it made it from NC to La from there. I can't think of any other car I owned that was that comfortable or relaible.

Honda, ford, etc. Granted I haven't ever driven a Russian or Chinese vehicle, but I've only heard bad things about them.

Define "good."

Until recently, Japan made the most reliable cars, by a wide margin. Most weren't especially stylish, powerful, or exciting, but they were very reliable and relatively inexpensive to maintain and repair. Several factors - gas mileage and emissions restrictions being one - have contributed to a reduction in reliability over the last decade or so, but it's affected all the other brands too, so you might still be better off with Japanese.

German cars tend to have better performance and are more fun for spirited driving, but they are overly complicated plastic trash that will bleed you to death with maintenance and repairs, and if you don't do those repairs and maintenance immediately, the problems quickly grow exponentially, along with the costs. German cars get mechanically totaled (the repair costs far exceed the car's value) more than any other major brands except Hyundai/Kia.

One of the biggest problems with newer (say, 2016 and newer) cars is the trend, forced on manufacturers by average fuel economy requirements, to use smaller/fewer cylinder engines with turbos, which means the engines spend FAR too much time being over-stressed by those turbos, which means the turbos and the engines fail VERY quickly. This has affected nearly all brands, and makes new ICE cars horrifically bad purchases.

There are older cars that you can buy for quite low prices, that are very reliable and very inexpensive to repair and maintain. The last (8th Generation - 2000-2005) Buick LeSabre and the related G-platform GM sedans with the V6 are very reliable and very cheap to fix. The Ford Crown Vic with the 2-valve 4.6 V8s, as well as the trucks and SUVs with that same 2-valve 4.6 V8, are all super reliable and have engines that can go 500,000 miles. Unfortunately, the replacement 3-valve 4.6 and especially the 5.4L Triton engines are complete trash due to the tiny oil passages that so easily get clogged and destroy the engine. And then they were replaced by the Ecoboost V6 (i. e., smaller, turbo-charged V6s that are way overstressed and don't last).

Probably the only NEW cars that are actually worth what you pay for them would be Tesla cars - the Model 3 and Y in particular. And they get better every year.

I partly agree. Turbocharged engines have more parts to break for sure and they really aren't more fuel efficient than a bigger NA engine. That said they don't fail VERY quickly. Like anything maintenance is important, but moreso with DIT engines. I like to keep cars for a long time, more for a hobby to see how well I can keep it going before it's not worth it. I have cars that have reached 200k with original turbos and intercoolers. I don't argue they probably won't last nearly as long as a really maintained NA engine but they don't fail quickly unless abused.

Yeah, I'm not gonna write an essay but I've had Ford's my whole (short) life. Never had a problem with them. My dad has bought them, as well as his brother's and my brother buys them. My current car is a HOT red Mustang! I named her, Esmeralda.

The United States makes Good Cars, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Great Britain. Those are leading automobile manufacturing countries with US in the lead thanks to Elon Musk and Tesla. As a matter of fact when it comes to just about everything the United States is far superior in almost every single category. From Tech innovations to Education to Military might and Economic Power. Even though we are 1 10th the population of China we dominate them in every category accept Speaking chineeese. The US is the only dominant super power we control space and the world's Economy.

Japan and Germany make really good cars. The big downside for German cars is the expensive maintaining them which can get pretty horrendous. Toyotas and Hondas which are made in Japan are outstandingly reliable cars. They are not particularly expensive to maintain and not particularly expensive to buy. The Porsche which isn't excellent and well-engineered car and lots of fun to drive. It's very expensive to maintain. I know because I have one.

Japan make the finest cars known to man (as do Thailand when it's delegated to them by Japanese brands from time to time some models apparently Mazda's Honda's etc not all don't quote me).

Anyways. If it wasn't Japan or Thailand, and if I still thought more happily and economically, Id wish the UK was the world's best and affordable priced.

They might be nice, but they are horribly unreliable and expensive to repair. Although I have heard they are getting a little better. I consider that a specialty car though. Most specialty cars are unreliable and expensive to repair.

When I was buying and selling cars I looked at a few Jags but never bought one.

That's not entirely correct. In 2016, 2017 and 2018 Volkswagen sold in larger volume than Toyota. Also, shouldn't the metric for largest company not be its total revenue? Otherwise why not choose a Chinese bicycle and moped manufacturer with sales of 20 million units?

@DryGermanGuy The question is about quality, not raw quantity. More people buy Toyota because they are good quality vehicles. VWs are okay, I had one for several years, liked it, though it had a recurring electric problem. Since then, I've had Hondas and Toyotas, never a problem with any of them.

Sure, quality is not imperatively bound to volume or company revenue. For their sales prices, Japanese cars have an excellent quality.

I always buy American made cars. I buy full sized SUVs or pickup trucks and my wife usually buys a compact SUV. We always get 200K miles from them without too many repairs.

I'd say West Germany. Every Ford I've owned was made there, and they've served me well. Even though the European Ford is a Turkish company, the factory is in West Germany.
