People’s bigotry outweighs their disdain for elites, however big into populism they may claim to be. I think a lot of people also think they’re just temporarily embarrassed millionaires who will be rich eventually.
We can ask the same question about people’s energy for street crime vs white collar crime…. the white collar crime does most of us more harm than the off-chance that we MIGHT be assaulted or robbed or whatever.
Meanwhile people in suits and ties are the biggest criminals America has to offer, but we have a societal sickness where we applaud these people, because we desire to be rich like them.
So any non-street-crime means are justified by the end, to a disturbing amount of people, who likely are the ones it’s at the expense of, to some degree or another.
Let’s be totally honest: America is mostly run by a White majority (if not in numbers, then in baked-in political, economic, and societal power)…so many White people have an entitled attitude and think anything that happens here has to be first cleared by them. America belongs to them, and anyone else is just here at their behest, as they see it.
A lot of people see life as a zero-sum game, and I think the idea of people of color potentially making gains frightens White people, thinking that it will be at their expense. They try to cloak it as an affront to meritocracy, never QUITE saying that “we think White people, specifically White MEN, are the best for any job we’d care to do, inherently, over any other demographic”, but also not really needing to. Well, on the Internet, they DO say it sometimes, but we’re supposed to let that slide as “trolling”, and not someone speaking freely with relative or complete anonymity🙄
Point is: a lot of people are racially prejudiced, at least in some measure, to a point where it can steer outcomes in people’s lives, directly or indirectly, positively or negatively depending on which end of the dynamic you’re on.
Anecdotal example that’s fresh on my mind: some White dude got into landscaping early in adulthood, just laboring, a couple years pass and he’s on to landscape construction (building retaining walls, laying sod, etc), couple more years and he becomes a crew foreman. Then a little after that, promoted to a superintendent that managed multiple crews. By his own admission, it’s not because he was some phenom in his field. His boss passed over many of his coworkers, some with more than a decade more experience than him. He asked why, and his boss just said “the customers don’t want to deal with those guys🤷♂️”
“Those guys” meaning Mexican immigrants who spoke broken English. That’s it. Nothing to do with knowledge or aptitude…. the (probably mostly White) customers, who aren’t even specifically identified yet, can be counted on to likely have a problem with someone who doesn’t speak perfect English having a job beyond a certain level.
Like that alone is commentary on the state of things in society. Sounds like MULTIPLE qualified people were passed over on an opportunity for upward economic mobility based on not speaking English cleanly enough, in favor of someone who might not have anywhere near the knowledge pertaining to the ACTUAL WORK. So…. its a real thing that happens, and to claim otherwise is foolish, disingenuous, and insulting.
And this can all be applied to other prejudices that (unfortunately) need to be regulated into correction: misogyny, homophobia/transphobia, xenophobia, etc. It all boils down to selfish and irrational “If they get something, what do I lose?” attitudes.
The waters get muddied sometimes, because people will tend to cling to whatever personal identity they have that they believe gives them the most power. Not single anyone out, just as common example: White women. I find they can go either way. Liberal White women subscribe to feminism to one degree or another and can be big on “Girl Power”, haha, and conservative White women often are more concerned with their identity as White people.
So you’ll have identity outliers folks love to point to in a token manner, to claim that regulations or even just voluntary programs with good intentions are unwanted. “Just ask this [X/Y/Z], they disagree with it despite belonging to that demographic!”
Anyway, I don’t want to ramble too much longer, but the moral of the story is that Americans by and large are people of low character, warped morality, and poor life priorities.
Fires in California, is a good debate actually.
Why is Californian state so ineffective against it? Well because they're obviously underfunded, under regulated and unready.
Because both right and left wing of American politics are basically neoliberals. Their overall ideology is the same, their policies are just tad different shades of the same mentality
Open Twitter, and you'll find the likes of Elon Musk constantly accusing lgbt, immigrants or DEI for everything.
Why? Well because they don't want you to actually question how come the richest nation the world has ever seen, can't even fund and organise institutions that will protect it's largest economic hubs from natural disasters that happen every year.
Because if you do that, you'll ask the rich to be taxed more, you'll ask the likes of musk, who quadroupled their wealth by just their political connections to be responsible for the nation they extract wealth from.
And that's a big nono! A bunch of lesbians, or dumb woke activists are the problem.
In fact, let's cut public spending, as if that's the main issue about US economic model. Rich people need more freedom to buy all the assets and max inequality out more! That'll be the solution
Same with this articule, rich elite using their wealth and connections to undermine institutions, buy their way in places they do not belong or earn in, because that's the name of the game
Earning things, is for poor people. The rich is entitled to send their kids into best schools and have the best privelages. Because they have money
US governemnt is increasingly underfunding universities, which renders them in need of money, scholars don't earn decent money even though they spend a lifetime studying some field
And what will they do? They'll align with the rich
All they got was slaps on the wrist when anyone else would have done jail time. Money speaks
That pissed me off. 14 days!! Wtf
It must be an American thing because I have no idea who they are.
That's what my post says it's very much a white American thing. That's where a lot of the racism began. In Europe it's very diverse and we are highly educated and don't resort to such ways.

Who says white Americans weren't outraged about it? The vast majority of white Americans are not elites and don't get that sort of special treatment.
But regardless, two wrongs don't make a right. The facts show DEI has been an utter failure. It's time for it to go. Companies should be empowered to hire the best candidate for a job based on their qualifications. Gender, skin color and sexual orientation are NOT qualifications. Considering those things at all is wrong, and inevitably results in lower quality candidates getting hired, on average... sometimes with dire consequences.
Dei was used as a result of white Americans discriminated. Be accountable. White Americans created segregation and hatred yet want to complain about the outcome. Too bad suck it up
If you think white people "created" segregation and hatred... I've got bad news for you about humanity.
@meepmeeperton you guys did lol 😆 and stole from the indians
You guys? Are you not white yourself?
@meepmeeperton I am not a white American
@meepmeeperton white Americans and us Europeans are two different people
Where exactly do you think white Americans came from then? And why accuse white Americans only of things like stealing from India, wouldn’t it make more sense to say the British did that?
Europe has dei too, plus allows women to be raped and murdered by muslims.
Much of European countries are pathetic and rely on the USA defending them with our military for free costing the US taxpayers billions of dollars every year. And the USA offers aid for free when disasters harm other countries. You'd all be speaking German or dead if it wasn't for the USA.
Any people from other countries should take a look at their own pathetic history before criticizing the USA.
@HighValue you're so proud of your country yet your country hates you. Why is the rate of poisons in your food so high? Why are you all so obese? Why are there so many homeless? Why is there such a problem with healthcare? Majority of you don't even have enough to retire so you work until you die. You too @dongie
Lol good luck you guys can barely burn out fires
Why do you act as tho you have such a great country in comparison to the country most others watch and imitate? You have really belittled yourself. You are reach for insults that leave you looking like a whiny little bitch with nothing better to do than poke at the big dog from behind your puny computer screen. You must be a lonely, ugly little troll. Too bad, so sad!
They both had lazy, spoiled kids that had no ambition besides spending their parents money. They hire a guy that had connections at USC to get them admitted. USC is hardly a first tier school.
DEI really did not have anything to do with this.
A lot of people are Capatlists so why would they be bothered that been rich gives you privileges? It's not a double standard because Dei has nothing to do with capatlism more the opposite tbh hiring someone based on gender or race despite their wealth.
Though I know a few capatlists that will complain about such privileges. Hypocrites.
Nailed It!!! Mho
What is the point of being rich if you can't get preferential treatment? We as a society treat the affluent better because they're better people. There's just far more "normies" than affluential people. So we have to pretend that everyone is getting a fair shake so as not to anger the great unwashed masses.
Both things are wrong. And we don't really know what most people think since the media is like 98% controlled by one side... and it's not the side that has a problem with DEI.
Well, that issue was already dealt with by the court system, right?
Criminal prosecutions and public and corporate policy are quite different things.
I'm American, and I don't know what dei is, nor who those people are.
I don't follow celeb crap.
This is beyond celebrity it is done by rich/privileged white Americans.
I still have no idea what you're on about.
I read science research papers, comics/manga, an animal encyclopedias. I watch engineering videos, nature docs, sci-fi, and anime. I play video games on arcade machines and custom PCs, I do tabletop games and cosplay and building model kits. I draw and animate and compose music.
I have a life, I don't make time for celebs, rich people, politicians, whatever dei is, or other boring crap.
Difference is "College admission scandal" is illegal and DEI is not only not illegal but is praised and endorsed.
Because it criticises people like them while DEI shows their privileges in the limelight in a negative way.
Everyone I know is extremely hung up on that. White Americans just as much as other colors.
The Hollywood Zoot Suits and Hoi Polloi can always buy their way out of difficulties, contractions, etc.
i think it's more sensible to pay more attention to what happens to a vast majority of people vs celebrity gossip.
We were furious about it but woke Hollywood and the woke media 100% supported them.
Um, these people were prosecuted. No one is being prosecuted for DEI.
Yeah, they just start world wars.
🤣🤣
That and they poison their citizens it's so weird.
Great comeback! @dongie about europeans!
Thank you, @strateguy632
Here in America, we like to have a flavor of the month of who we judge and why.
Lori Loughlin is so hot! Her kid totally could've gotten into USC without the bribe too! lol!
In so many words she basically said her child was stupid lol 😆.
LMAO! She basically just said that she's an anxious mom. Not terribly uncommon. Her daughter is also hot AF and had a pretty successful media following in addition to a famous last name. She's DEFINITELY getting in to USC with that!
One is far more prevalent than the other. And has a greater impact.
Wow I’m from a very wealthy family but don’t think I could just pay to get in a top university. It is shocking this
Was glad they got caught and punished
People need someone to blame.
It beats me I'm out of their league.
