“Everyone is welcome here”
Like there is nothing wrong since most often than not, the student body would obviously be diverse & come from all over so certainly would be common sense to support the idea that no matter where you came from, what you look like, or how you dress or what have you you’ll be respected, appreciated, supported, and taught like everyone else regardless.
Again, you as a student could be from any background and you as a teacher have the ability to showcase positivity, love, acceptance, and support which will leave a good impression on that young mind which will also make them a functioning member of society. God Bless You, with God’s love you’re perfect and their is a special place for you in this world so make him & your parents also teachers proud you did all you could do being the best you that you can be !
Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th, 5th, 6th should have a warm, welcoming, and inviting presence when they first walk into your classroom and this sign services that purpose of making them feel like they’re in a safe & inviting & respectful place here to help them learn.
It’s crazy how committed so many Americans are to being actively bad people, and they see it as some sort of virtue
Yeah the people who keep crying ‘woke’ can’t nail down a specific definition for it and so it leads them to decry anything that merely has the appearance of ‘wokeness’ as a bad thing. So even simple empathetic inspirational and innocent messages like ‘everyone is welcome here’ are considered a bad thing or is ‘indoctrination’. Its pretty fucked up.
Indoctrination of blind nationalism and Christianity is A-ok though🙄🤦♂️

No. The only controversial thing should be the people who say not everybody is welcome (and not because of their behaviour).
It's like the Texas school board member who discovered the platform she ran on was a lie, and the liars didn't care:
"The pervasive indoctrination she had railed against simply did not exist. Children were not being sexualized, and she could find no examples of critical race theory, an advanced academic concept that examines systemic racism. She’d examined curriculum related to social-emotional learning, which has come under attack by Christian conservatives who say it encourages children to question gender roles and prioritizes feelings over biblical teachings. Instead, Gore found the materials taught children “how to be a good friend, a good human.”...
She expected them to be as relieved and excited as she had been. But she said they were indifferent, even dismissive, because “it didn’t fit the narrative that they were trying to push.”"

Brilliant
No, that particular sign is not bad, by itself. However, you probably searched a long while to find one as tame as that, just to get people to go along with you. The problem is when the entire classroom is decorated in rainbows and LGBTQIA posters and is completely devoid of all educational materials. Go to Tiktok and you'll see what I mean. Teachers post videos of their woke classrooms on there and brag about it. They remove the national flag because it is offensive to them. Some claim to have panic attacks at the mere sight of that flag. These teachers focus 100% on indoctrination. I am bisexual with a preference to my own gender and I have many transgender friends so I have nothing against the LGBTQIA community. However, I was able to make that choice for myself. No teacher coerced me into it! In one Tiktok video, a teacher bragged about an excercise she did with her 4th grade class... She had her students go into a closet and then come out, one at a time, and state their sexual identity. The ones who said they were LGBTQIA were given a treat. The ones who claimed to be heterosexual were given NOTHING. Using these tactics on small children is indoctrination and should never happen in a school. Everyone needs to make those choices on their own. When adults make them for kids, many of those kids end up harming themselves when they are older. I'm just being real here. Oh, I am not in the USA so I am not following any of the crazy political party cults there.
“just to get people to go along with you.“
Nope this is the actual sign.
Anyways another person complaining about ‘wokeness.’
You know lgbtq community is being targeted right now by the new Trump regime right? I bet you don’t give a shit about that.
“Go to Tiktok and you'll see what I mean.”
TikTok is NOT representative of teachers as a whole.
“They remove the national flag because it is offensive to them”
How do you determine that it’s ‘offensive’ to them? Did you personally ask every single one if thats the reason their countries flag isn’t on their walls? No? I see so you’re just jumping to conclusions and judging with no proof. Typical.
“Some claim to have panic attacks at the mere sight of that flag.”
I bet you this is only ONE teacher and you saw on TikTok and think this somehow applies to every teacher.
“These teachers focus 100% on indoctrination. “
The only indoctrination happening is simply ‘it’s ok to be gay too’ which is a positive message that *should* be the basis for every classroom.
“I have many transgender friends so I have nothing against the LGBTQIA community.”
No it sounds like you have a lot of internalized homophobia you need to work out is my guess because you are literally regurgitating homophobic far right propaganda. I been around alright i heard a lot of this stuff already.
“However, I was able to make that choice for myself. No teacher coerced me into it!”
And NO teacher is coercing kids into being gay. ThT is simply not a thing and is something you homophobes made up to justify targeting lgtbq folks.
“In one Tiktok video” again not representative of teachers everywhere. And somehow i got a feeling you’re likely exaggerating things or leaving things out…
“Using these tactics on small children is indoctrination and should never happen in a school. “
Ehh i still wouldn’t call that ‘indoctrination’. ‘Favoritism’ yeah perhaps.
“Oh, I am not in the USA so I am not following any of the crazy political party cults there.”
And yet you sound like you are 100% in one. I encourage you to shut off tiktok for good get out in the real world and touch some grass immediately.
And im disappointed I thought you would be better than this.
Oh well.
I'm going to guess some far right Karen is having a hissyfit because she's spotted it in her kids' classroom. No doubt there's an angry Facebook page dedicated to defunding the school and parents demanding their kid isn't sat within 10ft of the Mexican kid or 20ft of the black one. The local politician is probably demanding genital inspections to make sure everyone is using the right bathroom. On the brightside those red hearts look like crucifixion wounds which will delight all once the wording is removed and the arms all changed to white ones.
I'll post this here since the update doesn't allow as many characters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqATQHRW9P4
This sign was hung up the walls of an Idaho teachers classroom and was ordered to take it down by school officials. they didn't offer a specific reason other than 'everyone is welcome here' is not something 'everyone believes.'
the real reason of course, we all know, is because it shows hands of multiple shades of color instead of just white. anything non white = woke.
This is Trumps america everyone!
The correct course of action would be to publicly request they state who is not welcome in writing then publish their response.
"Idaho teacher Sarah Inama, a sixth-grade history educator at Lewis and Clark Middle School" is risking her job to do just that. Their only response is to say you have to respect the view that some people are not welcome there because of the colour of their skin. It's Popper's Paradox in action.
"“While we respect individuals’ rights to express their perspectives, it is important to reaffirm that this situation is not about limiting speech or expression but about ensuring consistency in our classrooms and maintaining a learning environment free from distraction,” the statement said.
The district confirmed that legal counsel determined Inama’s poster must be removed and that she has until the end of the school year to find an alternative that complies with policy."

I've always wondered what the insecure (White) parents who absolutely lose their mind over an innocuous poster like that are teaching their kids at home. I imagine the message little Johnny and Suzy are being fed is something like...
"No, if everyone is welcome it's unfair to White people. Equality is unfair to White people. White people are entitled to be on top. There should be 7 White hands in that poster to reflect a White majority."
I mean what's wrong with raising the new generation with non racist mindset, only thing I see is the good in it.
When I was in 2nd grade they had something like this but all the hands were of pale and tan white people...
I like it because thankfully it has nothing to do with gender and seems like a save haven. Kids should just be able to enjoy kid activities. If they’re teenagers or beyond, it’s gonna be a different story.
There shouldn't be any issue as it seems to be sending an anti-racism message. HOWEVER, the fact that the word EVERYONE is done in a rainbow-like color scheme will make some people piss down their leg assuming that it's gay, less, trans, etc.
I think it's fine. Also, 6th grade is middle school, not elementary. But it's completely fine for it to be in there.
No? All it does is show different skin tones
what would be wrong with it lol
@Shiprex yeah that’s what I believed cause of the rainbow colored font, but despite that I thought it’s probably just gonna be a great picture for kids (kid-friendly) and just be caring/inclusive or just reassuring. Like what adults should do for kids, regardless. I didn’t think it was for specific kids, with an agenda, or certain kids in mind. Just kind of-
For KIDS. Period. 😂 like if I saw that sign in my childhood id believe it wasn’t about gender or race and just be a safe place. That’s what I like about it. Nothing being pushed just welcoming like an original/plain (and authentic) welcome mat.
@Still-alive
Exactly
@Shiprex yeah I see your point but I relate more to the normalization a tad bit more.
Really I think it’s not just incentive to ask or normalizing but really more familiarizing, with what already is. Not trying to convince of normal or get others to ask. If that makes sense.
Cause in my childhood I was in a mixed race school and when I seen our wall of miniatures of us (like little gingerbread people) I saw the different colors and I knew and seen the differences but I knew that that would always be normal. It didn’t just feel like “oh that’s normal.” It felt like family. Familiar with family.
@Rosexøxø I think there are still a lot of people who have grown up (important formative years learning) in homogenoous communities with little or no variation between them. They're unexpised to the diverse communities of the world now. It's not their fault but sometimes they have irrational feelings about differences and allow them to play out in public.
I grew up with only one non white kid in my school for example and that was common for my era and working class parts of my country. Only now are there more integrated spaces and people there.
@Shiprex yeah people have such a natural open minded attitude as kids I think it would be best case scenario to be around a diversity of people. Cause it just makes it easier to accept everyone that way. Not saying it’s impossible or not achievable it the latter years, it’s just by then, people are more comfortable in certain mindsets and lifestyles so everything is like making or breaking habit just for a sprinkle of change/adjustments.
I only think it’s better EARLIER on cause then there’s basically less “clash” and everyone would feel more comfortable. I just hate for anyone (of any age) especially later on in life, to be against certain NATURAL things cause of being uncomfortable or just being uncomfortable anyhow. I think people deserve to be comfortable with fellow men and women, and steps to make that easier and more accessible as well enjoyable, should be considered and attempts to carry that out should also be promoted.
It’s helpful when people share as well. Your comment was really interesting and illuminating to the series of perspectives/outlooks people may have towards these topics and the impacts of exposure/experience + lack of.
Also sorry if it seems I repeated myself, but there were differences and I can see I missed emphasis on that. Being more clear.
Where I mentioned discomfort, I meant being *against because* of discomfort, and then just plain discomfort (without necessarily being against or needing that as prerequisite).
And small decisions to make others comfortable should be considered and it should ALSO be put in to practice/ materialized. And that kind of thing be encouraged.
If it doesn’t make sense we’ll just leave it.
Essentially I appreciated YOUR comment. My response was positive lol 😂👍
@Rosexøxø Thank you Rose it's no need to be sorry to reinforce the meaning behind what you said. I am pleased your intent isn't negative around the message or styling queues so don't fret about it.
Like you say little positive things done a lot make a whole lot greater improvement to everything around and they likely provide incentives for others to do the same.
These christo-fascist anti woke crusaders are a few french fries short of a happy meal
Why stop at just 6th grade classrooms? Put it in every education grade
Fucked up modern society.
I don’t think anything wrong with it
It is antiracist
Obviously not
