Other than maybe being called "Captain obvious", is there anything wrong with pointing things out to people?

I have an acquaintance who thinks he is a financially sophisticated consumer, that I am far less knowledgeable than him, and every time I talk to him, he is telling me how badly I am screwing up by not purchasing a house now. I would love to buy a house now but I have some other financial obligations which first need to be resolved, and my acquaintance knows nothing about that. And I'm not gonna tell him. So, every time he gives me his advice, it is a major irritation. MAJOR!
He may think you're just sort of ignoring him. If you tell him your situation, he's more likely to understand
People want the truth, yet, can never give it, too
Depends on what people, some of them are easily irritated by pointing things out.
I've pointed things out to republicans, and they hate it
Yeah, when it comes to politics, people usually react just like that.
Nope.
