If you remove someone from having access to a child's medical history/info are they notified by the doctor's office (HIPAA)?

If you remove someone as an emergency contact or someone who can know information regarding your child's medical history/care, does that person get notified they were removed and are no longer approved to know these things or do you just tell them yourself or let them figure it out?

I updated my child's HIPAA info and I removed a problematic relative from having access to their info. This relative used to be an approved contact and someone who was permitted to have information shared with them regarding my child. Thanks to recent drama and toxic behavior, I made the decision to have them removed and no longer allow them these permissions.

Does the office call or text the person to tell them they've been removed or is that something you can personally do if you choose to? I don't plan on telling them honestly. They'll find out if they ever try to seek info regarding my child. I just know they'll cause me more issues if they find out I removed them.

i would have asked the office this and told them about the situation. it is important to have a paper trail of everything and the police paper trail so they know it is serious and why you must remove this person from having access to your child's medical stuff.

Nothing was said apparently and I did have more issues mostly involving the child's dad fighting me about this person being around the child. I continue to push to maintain distance and I am preparing to seek legal advice and stuff from all this. I will do whatever it takes it protect my child!

I don't think it would be something they'd be notified about. They would find out if and when they try to get information

You might want to check your local privacy laws but I don't think emergency contacts are entitled to information within a medical file

They were in the HIPAA paperwork as an approved person to have info shared with them I removed them. Is it up to me to tell them if I choose to or will the doctor's office tell them?

Actually, they have been starting crap for awhile. They should expect this outcome. They do not need access to my child's info if they're going to be toxic like they have been. They have proven they cannot be trusted and therefore, they have lost all trust from me and all rights to have access to anything involving my child. Sad it came to that, but they made their own decisions to cause all this. I'm ultimately grateful it came out though. Just goes to show the truth will always come out in the end.

You're using access to your child as a weapon to hurt people. Not only are you a coward but you're also childish.
