I rode a canyon last night that I call "The edge of heaven." It's about 45 miles of cliff edge riding on a road that has been closed to the public for years now. Tons of people don't listen to that. I passed a couple dozen people in and back.. but because of this traffic the rocks that fall are cleared away by those daring folk like me.

I had to stop three times to rest my body its pretty taxing with all the gears, center balancing a light cruiser over sandy debris and even brakes some turns are so hairy.

My wrist was about to give at one point.
It's then you stop and take in just how huge the mountains are and how silent and peaceful it is.

It is a literal veil to the other side. You feel a sort of vibration being made to feel so small and almost overwhelmed. You feel if you concentrate you could hear your loved ones on the other side of that invisible curtain trying to speak to you.

I'm fortunate enough to have some great canyons in my area for riding.

I was thinking during last nights ride that if I didn't have family waiting for me at home I would be at peace there.

Cameras never do that canyon justice. I just noticed I even caught the curtain in the rays of light here. 😉

🥰 I knew you would. You should see the size of the pine trees further in. All with roots sticking out of the rockface. The pictures make them look like saplings. We have a had a lot of fires here, the whole area used to be covered in them. 🌲

I hope to die quickly with no foreknowledge. A few years ago a 75-year-old died while racing his formula Ford. He hit a wall and that was the end. I expect he had a heart attack and was unconscious before he hit the wall.
