Yes, I know it isn't even Fall/Autumn yet, but stores are already starting to show their Christmas merchandise, so we have something to look forward to.

So here's the important question...

How many days in Christmas?

Note: I'd put this in the Holiday category but GaG hasn't turned it on yet.

I posted this question, wondering how many different answers it would get. Would people think how many days until Christmas? The 12 Days of Christmas? Celebration of Lent leading up to Christmas? The Day itself? Something else?

Practically the whole month of December and part of January. That's when you just can't miss all the Christmas hype on the streets and in stores.

As a kid, it started with Sinterklaas on December 6th (known in Belgium, the Netherlands, and parts of Germany and France), then over to Santa Claus or Father Christmas as we called him, and ending with the Three Kings on January 6th.

Right now, the most important day is Christmas Eve, when we have dinner with a large family.

How many Christmases are in our hearts depends on if your a giver of self and love. Then it's from this day until we leave our human body and return to being a spiritual being.

The 12 day thing I'd supposed to reflect how long it took the wise men to walk to bethlehem.

Here in the UK I'd say it creeps in after Halloween and guy fawkes night are over. There role is to prevent Christmas starting too early by blocking shop shelves with their own crap. Usually town centres start putting their decorations up the same time. If it wasn't for Easter I'm sure it would be extended well into February.

I reckon it's about 60-70 days

In most Christian churches, the season of Christmas begins on December 25 and continues until Epiphany on January 6; therefore, it is 12 days (if you subscribe to those Christian beliefs.)

I would envoy the day we go back to where stores don't show any Christmas stuff until day after Thanksgiving that basically stopped before I was born, but my parents and the two older brothers can remember those days and all say it made the entire Christmas season so much more enticing and friendly.

Curiously, the stores in my area have been offering Halloween candies for weeks already. This is the earliest i remember seeing that. Halloween was fully two months away!
Thankfully i don’t share your experience with seeing Christmas stuff already. It is “pumpkin spice” everything season though. UGH!!!

I go with the German final solution:

- Advent from 4 weeks before 24th

- 24: C'mas Eve and... well... ''thoughts and prayers'' :D - add presenting the obligatory gifts and attention of family members that you ignore during the rest of the year.

- 25th and 26th - recovering from 24th, and pretend to not be around, while you meet your beer buddies.
