There are many variations, but how would you describe your living quarters?

My friend describes my living quarters as "Miss Sage's Boutique" because there's such a variety of really cool 😎 things everywhere you look. Very cozy.

I still live in the modest 3 bedroom / 2 bathroom "starter home" I managed to buy back in 1998. And yes, it needs remodeling badly, and yes, I would have paid it off - and remodeled it - by now, were not some bad marital and financial investment decisions made. And originally it was just intended to be a "Starter Home" until the loving wife came - and stayed - and the kids came, which did not happen either. Sigh. Now it is just me and a rescued cat, and stray cats that wander into the backyard, with the weekend lady visitor when I don't go to her place. We have talked about consolidation, but sometimes I think the relationship works better because she has her weekday place and I have mine.

This "starter home" really is not laid out well: Downstairs, it has a small Den, an airline galley kitchen, a "Jack and Jill" bathroom (with double sinks), and a large "master bedroom" attached to that "jack and jill bathroom" with double sinks. You could just see the working couple the architects had in mind. Upstairs is a large loft play space for the hypothetical rugrats which never came, a full bathroom, and two smaller bedrooms. But back then in 1998 for $110,000 in a very nice if remote neighborhood, it was a deal, now worth at least $500,000 even as a fixer upper. Even taking into account the dollar devaluation between now and then, hooray. So there is that.

I use said loft as the "master bedroom", the two kid's bedrooms as large closets (rented out on neighbor. com as storage units to two different fellows who had surplus stuff to store), and the downstairs bedroom as an office and large closet. I used to rent out the upstairs, but having roommate tenants who really are not friends is a bother.

The lot is small, but the two stories mean a small "footprint" on the lot, so the backyard actually is big. Big enough for the previous owners to put a swimming pool in (see picture), and still have a back lawn and room for a garden. When I saw that pool after going through hot dry summers out here, my reptile (or is that Homer Simpson) brain said "Mmmmm... a pool..." Later when I learned how much pool chemicals cost year after year., and how about a third to half the year it's just not hot enough to use, "black bottom" notwithstanding, I came to regret that. Better to get a pool club membership and swim there, but oh well. Sigh.

I wish I still had the house that I bought in 1998 for $85,000 since it’s probably worth about 600,000 now but since the ex-wife had other idea of six years later to move into a house I couldn’t afford I don’t have that either, now I’m in a little house that cost more than any house I ever bought before, but at least you managed to keep yours, which I still regret to this day that I should’ve listened to my gut and not her

@Likes2drive I hear you. I bitterly hung onto my dirt, even at the price of remortaging the home and paying said ex off, because owning my dirt was just sacred to me. Call it my own "Safe space", ha ha.

I probably would’ve done the same if I had managed to hang onto it instead of selling it since it was still in my name because I was the one that bought it before getting married, and I was always the one paying for everything which was one of the reasons why the marriage didn’t work out, but I stayed because of the kids until there was nothing and lost it all, she got nothing from it either since the bank was getting ready to take it so I short saled it and owed nothing on the second house, at least you held your ground and stayed with it

I’m in a very little cozy house that is not much bigger than a one bedroom condo but at least I do have my own little backyard and a basement with a separate garage but it sure costs a lot to stay here and maintain myself plus paying all the bills by myself , it’s just me, but I have enough room for one more person, but other than that, it would be uncomfortable for more than two people to live here , everything looks pretty organized and it has a nice little kitchen that is not too small

We live in a very simple place which is one big room with a woodstove and basic kitchen/living room and a bedroom/small bathroom combo. It is very rustic and rural with plants and herbs growing and a few scattered books and stuff and maybe some dog or cat hair I missed and smells slightly of lilac incense and coffee but it feels cozy and like home 'cuz it's full of love and it's in the edge of a field next to the woods so wildlife is commonly seen and it is often referred to as "the Witches Cottage." 😊

I live in a very nice house. I had it built over 25 years ago and added onto it twice. My wife and I live in a master bedroom suite and there is a home theater room upstsirs from that. We also have a large family room, a big eat in kitchen a living room and a room I use for an office. It has a two car garage and a large yard.
